Error 5C00 results when trying to print

My printer makes a horrendous ratcheting noise when I turn it on, and when I try to print. Can't see a paper jam. When I try to print the display screen states that an error 5C00 has occurred and try restarting; if this doesn't work (it doesn't) check the manual (I did, no apparent solution therein).
Thanks if you can help....getting tired of replacing printers that cost as much to repair as to replace after ridiculously short service periods (less than two years with light to moderate duty).

[5C00} & Light Blinking 4 times = Purge Cam Sensor Error. That's mean there is an error occurred in the purge unit. You may either need to replace PURGE UNIT or LOGIC BOARD to solve out this error. Thank you.

Testimonial: "Your insight is MOST appreciated; however I just did the math, realize that a new one will cost me $5 and change per month for the next 18 months, so I will go with that. Dis-assembly, parts installation, cleaning up the mess and re-assembly is not something I have the time or inclination to get into. But thanks again very much. "

Canon pixma MarkII pro 9000 has an error 5C00 or purge error?

That is probably some paper or a foreign object inside the machine. Check around the waste station and at the far end of the printhead travel in both directions. Remove any found foreign objects and restart the printer. If there is nothing there to find - it is probable that the is a mis-alignment of the gear train that selects the various functions of cleaning, paper feed, and waste purging. In that case, there is not a lot you can do short of a complete strip down and rebuild with no guarantee of succes.

Canon pixma ip90 printer

if your printer is flashing 4 orange and then back to green repeatedly - i found a solution to it for my ip90v - i opened the printer and checked the right hand side cogs - carefully turn them and you may see that some stray paper jam debris is blocking the cleaning unit from returning to its home in the bottom front of the printer - carefully remove it and replace the casing - turn on and with any luck you will have a dully functioning ip90 like i did.

Hope it helps some others out
