I have an acer aspire 5100. It was vworking fine, was on it about 1/2 hour, I shut it down and made dinner. when i turned it back on, it comes on to the screen to log in and then the touchpad will now work, the key board, and the mouse that i plug in will not come on. I tried to unplug and take the battery out. for 1 hour nothing works can you help? thanks Tracy

disconnect the power cable and remove the battery and then press nad hold the power button for a minute. then connect every thing back and then see if the screen comes on. in case it does not then again remove the battery and power cable and remove the hard drive and ram and put it back in again. and then check still does not work see if the screen comes on an external moniter, still if it does not come on call ACER if it is under warrnty they would give you free repair.
Take out the battery and unplug the laptop. Hold down the Power button for 1min. Trust me this happens to me all the time and this is the only way I can fix it
I'm having the same problem, but I don't want to have to turn off my computer EVERY time it does this. (I have not been able to shut down the laptop normally because it goes into sleep every time.) I've heard that after 3 hours it builds up an eletrical charge and you have to take the battery out, but I havn't had it on for 3 hours at a time.
Try removing the battery and connecting the AC adapter then see if it boots up.
Reinstall the battery and keep the AC adapter connected and see if it boots up, if so leave it charge the battery for several hours.
If none of these work, get a replacement as there is a more segnificant problem.

i have read lot of same type of problems,with acer,if it is under warranty send it before end, there is fee of 449.00 for out of warranty notebooks. my 5100's have problems,very unhappy! with acer good-luck!
