First - confused on the number above - my printer, copier, scanner, & fax by Lexmark physically has X5320 on it -- but it is the same as the photo of the X5470 and NOT the same as the photo for the X5320.
Now the prob: just installed it (correctly) yesterday and all the test pages, etc.. checked out -- and I even printed 3 pages at diff times throughout the afternoon.
Now today - it won't stop paper jamming -- can't print anything -- and this is with the same exact settings and paper from the same package. (and no one else has used this computer - let alone the printer).
Paper Jams in the Printer ID:412
Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
Check to see if all the rollers are turning.
If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
Turn the printer off.
Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
If this didn't work please replace the printer by the company..
There are a number of conditions that can cause paper jams. First, check the condition of the paper. You should use only clean, undamaged paper designed for inkjet printers. Remove the paper and fan the edge to make sure it is not sticking together.
Next, make sure that the paper is properly loaded. The edge guides should be snug against the paper without causing it to buckle. Do not force paper into the printer.
Finally, check that there are no obstructions in the paper path. Use a flashlight to look into the printer. If you are physically able to lift your printer, remove the paper, turn the printer upside down and shake it a few times.
Leading cause of paper
jams is debris / foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed
area. Please try this approach to fix the problem:
