If thats the case I will assume these things:
- You are seeing the wireless router when you are trying to connect but it still wont let you connect.
OR
- You are NOT seeing the wireless router and want to connect to it.

What you will have to do it go back into the router (hard wired into it) and start over. Make sure you access the wireless setting and ensure the settings are compatible with your wireless laptop. If your laptop is very new then the setting at the bottom will work if your laptop is older then the options like WEP/WAP Personal setting will do. Make sure you write down the settings you used for refrence later.

When you rename the device, wirite it down too!

Ensure you "Apply" all the settings and "Logout."

When you are done, go to "Start," "Control Panel," "Network and Sharing Center," "Set-up a connection or network," "Manually connect to a wireless network," and enter all the information you wrote down!

Let me know if there is anything else you need help with!

Tells me not connected to server. I'm not having any other issues except with my mail. Why is it not connecting?

Do you have wifi?? It maybe as simple as resetting the wifi router and your modem be it cable or DSL. Unplug your wifi router and you modem fir about 30 seconds, the plug back in and allow all equipment to come back up if you are still having issues try hitting the button on front or "wireless"/wifi router that looks like it had a dot in parentheses or what might look like a lock these buttons maybe on front of the wifi/wireless router.
Hope this helps with you!!

I cant get wifi and internet on my computer at the same time

Hi. Let's hava look at what you are doing.

I'm guessing that you have a cable modem a dlink router with wifi and a computer, right?
If you connect the cable modem to the computer you have internet. You shouild also have wfi but the wifi will not give you internet because it is disconnected from the modem.
The Dlink has to be connected to the modem but it will also need to be configured. To *** that you will need help from your cable company.
The connections should be. Modem connected to the outside world. Dlink connected to the Modem. Computer connected to the Dlink by either wifi or Ethernet.

I can not connect to the Internet. I have WiFi connection but can't do anything else

Plug your computer/laptop directly into router. Can you get to the Internet then?
If you CANNOT get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router, reboot your router. If it doesn't have a power switch, unplug it. Leave it unplugged. Next, you need to figure out if you have another modem for DSL or Cable. If you do have another DSL or Cable modem, unplug that device to. After 5 minutes has elapsed for both devices being unpowered, plug in the DSL or Cable modem to the power source. Keep the router unplugged from power. After your DSL or Cable modem has powered up for 5 minutes, plug your router into the power source. Wait a few minutes. Reboot your computer/laptop. Try the wireless connection again.
If you CAN get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router. Reboot your computer. Try to connect again. If you cannot connect after rebooting, make sure you are connecting to YOUR OWN wireless access point and not someone else's.
Do you have other computers/laptops/wifi devices that CAN/CANNOT connect to your wireless / access the Internet?

Can this be used as a 56k router? I need to have a temporary internet connection and it is only a basic connection because of the type of phone there is at the house. We tried to connect but I don't have...

The SB4100 is a digital modem that uses cable TV network to provide broadband Internet access, it can't work with an analog telephone line, for this type of Internet access (also called switched Internet connection), you need an analog internal or external 56K modem, and also you'll need a user name and password (an account) from the Internet provider service (ISP) ; for a temporary Internet connection maybe a prepaid cellular modem (GPRS, EDGE, 3G or 4G) USB type could help you better.

try to reset the wireless device by unplugging the power supply and plug it back again. This is the common problem of home wifi devices...you need to reset it occasionally.

Motorola SB4200 Modem IP not working

You can always do the 30-30-30 reset as follows:
  1. When router is powered on, press the reset button and hold for 30 seconds. (Use a paper clip or something sharp)
  2. While holding the reset button pressed, unplug the power of the router and hold the reset button for 30 seconds
  3. While still holding the reset button down, turn on the power to the unit again and hold for another 30 seconds.
This should allow for a full reset of the modem. Once that's done, connect your computer to it with an Ethernet cable to access it's WebUI using the Default Gateway (192.168.100.1), or connect to the WIFI using the default SSID and Password that are usually written on the modem itself.

I hope this works!

Cannot connect to wifi on our bt home hub

Could be a variety of reasons.
Assuming you have not had it working before
Assuming the wifi is broadcasting it SSID
Assuming you have laptop connected by ethernet cable to hub:

Assuming you have XP:

Go to start/control panel/network connections/right click the wireless lan icon and select properties/select wireless connections and delete ALL previous entries.

With Vista go:start globe then

Control Panel\Network and Sharing\Manage Wireless Networks and delete all entries

Now:

press windows key and R
type cmd and enter
type ipconfig and enter
note lower set of figures ie 192.168.0.1
open browser and type in those figures and enter
should now open router firmware
When asked for log in use defaults of admin - admin or admin - password

navigate to wireless security and set encryption to WEP 64bit and create a simple encryption code - save settings

Change broadcast channel to 8

make sure wifi is set to open and not shared

Save all settings, allow hub to reboot and now see what happens
