All HD manufactures provide disk uility disks Find what type of hard drive you have and go to their web site download the disk and run it this should include a format uility For a sucure format download AUTOCLAVE burn it to disk and run it this one is slow but will put the hard drive back to a preformatted state
When this happens, i normaly try to read the Hard drive on another Computer. Be it external or internal Hard disk, if it doesnt read on a diffrent working computer, then the Hard drive has a problem. If its that bad you can one of my tricks, put the hard disk in a trasparent, water proofed plastic and put in a freezer for close to 10min. Remove it and connect as quickly as you can. You might get lucky. If all this fails. Then go to microsoft.com and download Error Rescue Disk Commander(ERD), burn it on disk and boot your computer with it, when you succeed, use the Explorer to make backup and use the Administrative Tools to Erase/Wipe the Hard drive. Restart the computer and restore the data
Make sure you are booting from CD-ROM and not the hard drive, If that doesn't help get out your windows CD...run it until right after it formats your hard drive then stop your computer and boot with the Ubuntu disc... You will love Ubuntu...it clean not bloated, straight forward, plenty of free help and software, everything you want is available -free and works better. ...good luck (there is a learning curve, but not bad) please leave rating
what your describing is a hard disk failure the computer cant or wont read the hard disk to boot the machine, so it shuts down. Sounds like the hard disk died from a bad virus. and the computer wont run. Best I can do for you is either format the Hard disk and reinstall the operating system or buy a new hard disk. Cheers
given the symptoms, it points to motherboard.. if it was processor, video or ram. it wouldnt boot at all and you'd just get error beeps from your laptop. i'd first try resetting the bios, by removing the bios battery for 30 min, then putting it back in. if that doesnt work try changing it out, usually costs under 8 bucks. if that doesnt work then I would change out the motherboard, if its cost effective.
