Question about Sony VAIO V505 Notebook

Sticky FN Key problem

Hi, I have an old PCG-V505ECP.

I got some trouble with FN Key. Every time FN Key freaks out and a f***** pop up says "Sticky Fn Key: The Fn key has benn pressed 5 times..." and I didn't pressed nothing!!

Someone could help me, please?

Hello there:
Laptop keyboards are notorious for sticking after time due to small particles of dirt or oils from our skin and if you smoke believe it or not smoke from a cigarette is very bad on keyboards and computers in general.
What you can do to try to solve this problem is to get a can of canned air then turn off the laptop and dissconnect the power cord then
get a very small flat tip screw driver and CAREFULLY pry off the faulty key pad then take a q tip and some rubbing alcohol and wipe the area that it connects to .
Now take the canned air and spray down the entire keyboard and let sit for 10 minutes then replace the key pad and then replace the power cord and turn on the laptop and see if this now will work ok

Fn key - how to change

try pressing the "num lock" key. if that doesn't work try taping "fn" key 4 or 5 times to pop up a sticky key option windows. if else is fail try pressing "fn+num lock" key simultaneously.

My Dell laptop keyboard settings have apparently been changed-I have to hold down the Fn key to get the letters on the keyboard instead of the Fn items indicated on the keyboard. How do I fix it?

Maybe this is the result of inadvertently turning on "Sticky keys" (see the Accessibility Control Panel Help file). Try holding the Fn key down for several seconds with no other key pressed to see if that turns off the Fn lock-on. After that you can disable the Sticky Keys function in Accessibility.

Press the Function (Fn) key again to deactivate it.

Please check if the "NUM LOCK" is enabled. If it is enabled then press it to disable to resolve the letter/number key issue.

You may disable the Function key by removing the VAIO Event Services Utility or HKSERV Utility from the Startup.

1. Click on the Start, select RUN, in Run command type: msconfig and press the Enter key.

2. In the MS Configuration Utility, un-check the VAIO Event Services Utility or HKSERV Utility and then click on Apply then OK.

3. Then, restart the Computer. This will disable the Function key in the Computer.

Try hooking up a different monitor. If that is not an option try looking for a key in the F-keys row that has a pic. of two monitors that might even say lcd on one of them. Hold down the Fn key and push the key with the pic once. If not then push the key twice before letting off the Fn key. And so on
