What is the system error message? Have you looked at the Canon website for help with your model of printer?

That is best bet since it appears that your print head is fubar and Canon charges a fortune for them. Cheaper to get a new printer with warranty.

and click on "drivers and software" button. Select your operating system and download the driver. Then you can use that driver instead of the disc that came with the printer.
