I have a Palm T/X that simply won't turn on at all and does not respond to the reset button. I had no warning of low battery power but I haven't charged it in a few days. I haven't sync'd it with my computer in a long time. What can I do? Have I lost the data if the battery is dead?

HI,

Here is the solution to your problem.80% of the time the problem is with the battery.Replacing it usually fixes the problem. And 20% of the time it is the charger. So you can first try replacing the charger to see if it fixes the problem or else the problem is with the battery.

If it is still under warranty just return it to them. They will fix it.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution as fixya..

It sounds your battery is down and thats why its not getting. Loss of battery power does not mean any loss of saved data. Just recharge is and use there might not be any problem.

If any problem occures just Aks me
And please mention your Manufacturer and model no. when asking again.

Thanks
Iqbal

If the battery went dead, the data you had there could be gone.
I would suggest to recharge the battery first and do the rest of the setup once the battery is fully charge.

Is there a way I can revert my Palm Treo 650 back to original factory settings

Factory Reset for Treo 700p and 680 smartphones
If you've set a password on your smartphone, any hard reset will automatically become a Factory Reset. With this method, you'll enter a password and then perform a hard reset.
On your smartphone, launch the Security application.
2.If the Password box says "Unassigned," tap the box and create a password for your smartphone.
3.Once the password has been set, disconnect your smartphone from the AC charger and take off the battery cover. Do not remove the battery yet.
4.Hold down Power/End .
5.While holding down Power/End , remove the battery. Then insert it again.
6.While still holding Power/End , the screen will show the Palm logo and a progress bar. Then the circular Palm Powered logo will appear. Release the power button when you see the Palm Powered logo.
Keep holding the Power button during this screen. When you see this screen, you can release the Power button.
7.A message will appear warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your smartphone. Press UP.
8.If you performed this reset correctly, the screen will go blank after several minutes, and you will not be able to turn on your device. The charging LED will not light up. (any other activity - such as the Palm OS logo and then the Applications launcher appearing - means the reset was performed incorrectly; try again) 9.Your device will appear "dead." To wake up your smartphone, perform a soft reset.

After a soft reset, my Palm TX becomes stuck on the "Palm Powered" screen. I have tried all of the resets, including the hard reset. The PDA does not respond to any of the resets. I can not turn the PDA...

You need to perform full reset which will erase all personal data and set everything to factory default. You need to press reset and power button to perform full reset. It will give you confirmation once you choose yes it will perform hard reset If issue persist you may disconnect and reconnect to internal battery

Absolutely black screen - will not power up - did not give warning of low battery - palm z22 about 2 years old ---is it dead????

The Z22 suffers from 3 problems. One of these is the Black Screen of Death. I got a used Z22, and over the years discovered this problem. The small battery was a perfect fit of power and size when manufactured, decades ago, but, time alone has deteriorated the capacity, so that a "NEW" , sealed-in-the-box Z22 today, has a weak, dying battery that needs replacing. These are $10 free shipping from China. The BSoD seems to be caused by a dip in power from the battery to the LOGIC CIRCUITS that control the ON/OFF/SLEEP/CHARGE, etc states of the Z22. If the logic gets out of sync, the unit is in an INVALID state, will not charge, nor respond to the LOGIC buttons on the front - these buttons are NOT the standard ON/OFF buttons from the past that mechanically connected or diss-connected power. All the buttons on the Z22 are touch snap disks that are connected to transistors, to flip logic states. THUS, is the power in any of the transistors gets low, the transistor is neither ON nor OFF, and the control circuits are in a messed-up state. Or another way of looking at it, the ON button is a logic gate on a transistor network, and the only way to activate the "ON" logic state, is with full power to the circuits! -- the power on the Z22 is ALWAYS ON. . . The screen may turn off, and the chips may go into "sleep" mode, but the Z22 is always on. SO if there as a weak battery, you may get the random Black Screen of Death. The GOOD news, is the the DATA and programs that you purchased are incredibly SAFE, as long as you do NOT do the HARD RESET (which someone suggested ! (NOT ) ). I have ripped apart the Z22 dozens of times, and subjected it to freezing and heating and all sorts of horrible things, the data has always been 100% reliable, -- stored in permanent memory. There is a quick way to get rid of the BSoD - you have to open the unit and cut one of the two battery wires, wait 2 minutes to kill the logic circuit power, then re-connect. I added a switch on the Z22, just for this purpose. I would recommend, if you get the Z22 re-powered, to get a new battery as soon as possible. This should clear the BSoD for a while. See my tiny website :

http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.htm

There are many photographs and step by step procedures to try to get the data off the device, maintain the Z22, get parts, and use the Z22 with the new 64 Bit Windows computers. The BEST way to use the Z22 would be to get an old Widows 32 bit laptop (ie WinXP), and simply connect the Z22 in a standard way using the software that it was designed for... The new patches to 64 bit machines, are very limited, and many previous features do not work.

So the bottom line - all your data, information, and programs are safe. You simply have to reset the LOGIC CIRCUITS (this has nothing to do with the PALM Z22 SOFT and HARD Resets !) - it has to do with disconnecting the power from the battery, or waiting until the battery is COMPLETELY DEAD ! (which can take a long time! )...

Good luck

Palm TX power button and touchscreen

We have three TX's in our family with non-working power buttons. I downloaded the program Au Dodo http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/audodo.shtml and simply now use the far left button (button 1) as my 'power' button. It works wonderfully.

I haven't found out how to fix the calibration problem, but power on/off has been totally fixed. Good luck for you.
