If the charge is low, locate the leak, recover the remaining refrigerant, repair the leak and leak test the unit. Weigh in the new charge with a charging cylender. This is why there is only a port on the high side, the charge is critical and must be acurate down to the fraction of an ounce so the mfg. does not want the tech to connect gauges and adjust the charge, just the loss of gas into the gauge set will affect the machine.

Oldsmobile problems

Danger! Always connect the charge fitting to the low side of the system and use the proper refrigerant. All low side fittings have been the same since around 1993. It looks like you are trying to apply the charge to the high side of the system. THIS CAN CAUSE THE CAN TO EXPLODE. Find the low side charge fitting. The low side will have a wider hose or tubing. A 134A charge kit will have the proper fitting to fit your car. The fitting might be hidden but when you find it the charge connector will fit on it.I recommend you use a charge kit with a pressure gauge. On a hot day it should read about 30-40 psi

Air Conditioner will not charge. Think I have a leak. How much work is it to replace evaporator?

I'm a little lost here.
You normally get the high and low fittings when you buy a kit. The original system had the same size fitting for both, but the kit comes with two different sizes for R134 gauges. You may have to look for the high side fitting by itself.
How do you know the evap is leaking, or is that just a guess ?
As long as the high side fitting is closed, you should be able to charge the low side but you won't know when it is full without the high side gauge.
I would try to find the high side adapter and get the gauges hooked up before you proceed.

How to recharge ac in 2002 jeep liberty. they say the blue cap but the caps are all black

the low side line is the one you want to use to charge the a/c. The low side fitting is always on the larger line and is always the smaller fitting. The high side fitting is larger and always on the smaller line. They make the fittings two different sizes so that you can not place a low side connector on the high side fitting.

Make sure the vehicle is running and the a/c is on before you start to fill the system.

Which port is the low side port for ac charging on 1997 gmc jimmy

The low side port is always the smaller fitting on the larger line. The high side is always the larger fitting on the smaller line. They do this so that the low side fitting can not be mixed up and placed on a high side port.

NEED TO FIND THE A/C LOW PRESSURE SIDE FOR A 2002 CHEVY S10 2.2L ENGINE

Find the air compressor located on the engine and follow the two metal tubes coming out of it. One tube is the high side and the other is the low side. Keep following them until you find a tee with a plastic cap. The red cap is the high side, the blue cap is the low side. If you're trying to re-charge the AC then the recharge fitting will only go on the low side, it won't fit the high side on purpose.

I am putting refrigerant in my 05 freestar van. which port do i put it in?

The low side port. If you have the proper quick connect charging hose, it will only fit the low side fitting. The high side fitting is larger & wont fit the quick connect fitting on the hose.

I dont know where to charge the air conditioning systen with r134

Find the a/c compr, look for the thick a/c line, follow the line will come to an a/c port to charge a/c, stay away from thin a/c line that one is high pressure, low side a/c hose adaptor will only go on low side fitting, will not fit on high side.

I want to do ac charge cant see fitting to do this

Ther are two fittings in the system, the low and high sides. You want to charge through the low side. Following the line from the firewall(right side) on the Aluminum expose pipi there should be a fitting. The fitting is larger than the high pressure side and cannot be mistaken. The high pressure lfitting is smaller and on a small steel line coming from the condensor in front of the radiator. Both are accessible working from top of engine.

A/C charging

the charging system can only fit on the low side. It can not fit on the high side so just look at the 2 different sizes.
