HI!I FROM GREECE! THE BATTERY OF MY MUSTEK PVR-140

Try the website bargain basement batteries, they carry batteries for phones, cameras and laptops and probably for media player. The other choice is to contact the manufacturer and order the replacement parts

AC power jack came loose from the board on both the Yukai PVR-H240 and Mustek PVR-H140. Is this a common problem?

This happened to me too. Just unscrew the 4 screws, lift out the hard drive and glue it back down to where it was (2 little pegs will fit into two little holes on the circuit board. You can touch the contacts with a thin tipped soldering iron if you want to but you probably don't need to.Then close it up. That worked for me!

HOW TO CHANGE THE MUSTEK PVR-H140 BETTERY

It is real easy to change the battery, I have done mine a few months ago
if you remove the screws from the back top and bottom (4) and remove the case
next remove the 2 small rubber strips from each side of the hard drive, then very carefully pull the connecting ribbon off the hard drive, this can be tight so gently prise apart with a screw driver,
once the hard drive is removed you will see some earthing straps just make a note of where these are located as you will need to put them back in the right place, they simply touch the hard drive,
now you shoud see the battery (very thin in a blue plastic case) you might want to remove the rubber proctective stuff just to make it a bit easier there is a simple pull/push connector
just unplug it and replace with new battery and reverse the procedure.
Dont panic if the unit fails to switch back on as mine did when i re assembled it
it was just one of those earth straps in the wrong place.

I hope this helps,
P.S I changed the battery on a unit I bought on ebay and i had nothing to loose
if you are unsure do not attemp the repair.

My mustek pvr-H140 freezing

Tje pvr-h140 basicall have 3 major components

1- 40 gb hard disk
2- battery pack similiar to the cordless phone battery packs
3- integrated panel with LCD and control buttons; usb port; power port; av in/out port.

when the unit hangs on initialize; this mean the hard disk is not responding. you can hit the recessed reset button and and power it back on. if the hard disk is OK this should clear up the issue.

if the hard disk is bad (crashed) then you need to replace the disk. Usually a fitjitsu 40GB notebook drive

also if the unit was dropped; constantly banged; etc then the cable to the hard disk to the integrated panel may be loose. The disk to cable is pinned and doesn't come loose but the other end of the cable is taped to the integrated panel and can come loose if the unit is not handled properly.

finally if the boot up files are corrupt; then you should be able to see it on the pc with the usb connection.

In this case you need to download and restore the files as discussed in the other solutions. Basically mustek has a website with all the drivers.

PVR-H140 doesn't work but cannot restore files

Problem is once the hard drive is corrupted you can't access usb to fix the problem. You have to remove the four screws on the back cover remove the 40gig hard drive. Find a laptop or an ide to usb adapter to reformat the drive. Must be fat32 not ntsf. Then copy all files back onto drive.

Goodmans GPDR40

14th August 2007 I've heard of this problem. The operationg system or part of it is on the hard drive so if something happens to the data the unit gets stuck at the opening window. A suggestion I've read about is to open the unit and try and reconnect the ribbon cable to the drive, it's a push on job apparently. Of course, this will invalidate your guarantee AND may not solve the problem. I've not done it myself so can't give any firsthand advice. Regards
