Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner
I purchased a 2005 32 ft. RV. The RV came with a Dometic rooftop unit. The Fan runs and I can hear the compressor kicking on, but the air coming out is only slightly cool. Are these things rechargable? if that indeed is the problem.
Quite honestly? Roof Air systems are much like window air conditioners in your home. They are closed systems. They really have no place to leak from. Usually the best course of action is to take the ceiling bezel off and with a flashlight inspect the evaporator coils. Make sure there is no obstructions, then get up in there with a vacuum cleaner then use a cleaning foam available from Lowes or Home Depot. after you have cleaned it, if it still doesn't cool, I suggest replacing the unit. If this unit hasn't been replaced since 2005, you're probably throwing money down a rabbit hole having it fixed. The hardest part of replacing a roof air is getting it on the roof. They are very easy to replace.
