E20 is difficulties in draining for washing. which can be drain tube kinked or blocked, drain filter clogged or dirty or the pump impeller behind filter is getting jammed by a coin or cotton or anything wrapped around it, remove filter and look at back of hole and see if impeller will turn use a long screwdriver to turn it, obviously with the power off

I also had the "E20" error code come on my EWF 1090 washing machine several times. This is after error free operations for about 2 years. I opened the small access panel on the lower right front of the machine and unscrewed the filter plug. Out came about 15 coins and one collar stay! There was also a lot of dirt caked to the sides, which I cleaned out. Undoubtedly all this gunk clogged the small drainage tube and may have also impeded the impeller. It is a relatively convenient way to clean out the drainage system in the washer. You can easily do it yourself with no tools. I'm sure this is 99% of most E20 problems, if you have not moved your washer in the course of its lifetime.

my washing machine is doing the same. try adding water in manually via the dispenser drawer. see it this helps, it should then advance to the next stage. you'll have to repeat when it requires water. i'm currently fault finding myself to see what the next solution should be.

I'm fairly sure that this is a warning that the filter is blocked. There is a filter in the bottom right hand corner of the machine.

Now, as stated by the other user here, your problem is that you have a machine full of water and if you remove the filter, you are going to get a very wet floor. The trick here is:

Turn the power off at the mains and remove the plug from the wall. Wait ten minutes. This SHOULD power off the safety feature that allows you to open the front load door.

Presuming it does, pull the machine out if it is under a work surface and taking great care because of the weight, tip tha machine backwards until the water level is below the door (Having a chair or a box to rest the back of the machine on is a good plan here, so you don't tip it beyond about 45% and have it fall on ots back.

If the door will open, then you can now rescue any clothes and bale out the water with a cup. Once you gave got to all the water you can (Memember there is still more waqter out of sight and in the pipe going to the filter!) You can now tip the machine back a little further until the water is clear of the filter in the botton right of the machine.

NOW, you can take the filter out, remove the fliff, couns, old sock and other debris clogging it and screw it back in place. TIp the machine back on to its feet and put it back.

Now, make a note in your diary to check the filter ever 6-8 weeks or so. Once you have done a few check and cleans, you will figure out how oftem you need to clean the filter, which depends on what you wash and how much you wash it.

This is a problem associated with the drum not emptying water - usually a blocked empty pump filter. Electrolux have an excellent support site. Go to:

Machine stops half way through program

One looses touch with all the codes available, but normally if washer stops mid cycle its due to a blocked or faulty drain pump. OR incomming water is to slow or defective inlet sensor. Switch off and start from the beginning. See if you can get machine to drain by moving the timer etc. If not, rectify pump problem. Take note where in the cycle the problem arises.

MY WASHING MACHINE HAS STOPPED 28 MINUTES THROUGH THE WASH CYCLE. ITS SHOWING UP E20 ERROR. ITS FULL OF WASHING AT THE MOMENT

Hi!

Error E20 means there is a problem with water draining. Please check the drain hose which may be kinked or squashed or the drain pump may be blocked. Another possible cause is totally blocked filter which is required to be cleaned to resolve the issue.

Thanks for using FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

My aeg washer dryer comes up with e20 flashing i have checked the pipes, changed the pump cleaned the bottom filter, pump is now working but e20 fault still comes up half way through the wash cycle... how...

I had the same problem (E20) for a long time and tried everything in the manual before I called AEG to have someone stop by and fix it.

He took the whole top off as well as the back and pulled out all this fuzz that was stopped somewhere. He said it normally comes from using too much detergant and also from not letting the machine run empty every now and then....but it doesn't say to do this in the manual. And anyway, I can't imagine that using too much wash powder made 1/2 kg of fluff.

I still have a guarantee on the machine, but they say that because it is my fault that I got E20 I have to pay for the repairment myself.

I actually think that they build the machine purposly in this way to keep up the money flow. I have an attorney on the case now.

Check water "forreign object trap". It's under the lid at the bottom of the machine. First drain water by pulling out the hose and pull out the plug. Then unscrew the trap. Have had this E20 error twice. First it was two coins there, next it was a big paperclip. Have worked fine ever since.11_20_2011_8_57_27_am.jpg
