I had the same problem - couldn't get the part (plastic coupler between the spline drive shafts). I purchased a waterproof **** Splice (GB-AMT-5126 12-10 gauge -- used for electrical wire splicing -- got it at Home Depot). Clipped off about 3/8" on each end with diagonal cutters and attached it to the shafts. The steel ring in the middle of the **** Splice connector provides good structural support to the connection. Works like a charm. Plus with a pack of 4 connectors, I have 3 in reserve.

I was looking for the same part and found it on ereplacementparts.com, specifically, the following link for $1.38
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/coupling-p-407237.html?osCsid=sedcbno0cejj50eqkiqes56ep3

In the meantime I had enough of the coupler left that I could just center it and still use it to turn the shafts. I then reinforced it by twisting electrical tape around it so it wouldn't just shatter during use like the rest of it had. It works for now. I wouldn't call it a permanent solution, but it should hold until the new coupler arrives. I think I may just go ahead and reinforce the new coupler with electrical tape when I get it, in order to get longer use out of it before the plastic goes brittle and shatters like the original did. At that price, I will also order extra couplers to keep in reserve.
Hope this helps!

The flex coupling is # 2615294309 and the price is $ 1.25.
This is the hollow plastic sleeve about 1" long with grooves on the
inside, that goes between the motor shaft and the output shaft.

Spline driver sits on the direct end of the motor shaft. The flex

Nylon Coupler crscks when installing

I'll answer last question first. They might be cracking because they are in a bind and when turned on or inserted on the shaft there is too much pressure. Make sure the shafts are free of any debris from the original coupling, also check the bearings for wear or being so tight that they twist the coupling. Everything should move freely. And second I would recommend calling Dremel direct at 1-800-437-3635 for replacement parts. Hope this helps.

Coupling broke

I have a Dremel 395 Type 3. Motor works fine, shaft doesn't turn. Took it apart to find that the white plastic or nylon flex coupling on the shaft had crumbled and the spline driver, which fits directly over the motor end of the shaft was somewhat worn. I emailed Dremel and got an overnight reply listing the 2 parts I need and the cost: Coupling is $1.00 and the driver is $1.25. Placed order by phone: 1-800-437-3635. I ordered 2 of each in case future replacement is needed. Total bill came to $7.27 including Florida tax and shipping. Can't beat that. They said it would be in the mail by tonight. (Flex coupling number is 2615294309; spline driver is 2615294308.)
