I just bought a Samsung 46" LCD HDTV at BestBuy. It has a great picture and many nice features, but, despite all sorts of audio "controls", has a terrible tinny sound that renders speech almost unintelligible. Surely there's an acceptable solution that doesn't involve the purchase of an expensive home theatre or surround sound system. I just want to be able to understand what people are saying!

I also have a Samsung 46 inch HDTV and have the same problem. I reported it to Samsung. They sent out a repair man who replaced the entire audio system... I did not help at all. Sound quality still very bad. Hard to understand audio voice on most movies. Is there a solution short of installing an additional home theatre system?

Recently bought a denon dp200usb,tried to play some lp's but the sound quality is awful. Have tried cleaning them but still awful muffled sound. Advice please?

Best and cheapest way to improve the sound from any TV is to get a soundbar. Even the cheapest one will be better than the TVs speakers.

HP1020 fax answer phone etc

Digital answer phones record the message on a memory chipset in the same way old tape machines did using a magnetic support. Quality can only be improved by the technology itself, problem is with your specific machine.
If you have a broadband filter try replacing it.
Test the machine on a different phone socket and see if it makes any difference.
Check on your answering machine settings, you should find an option to control volume.

On the Vizio D TV's......the quality of the sound is horrible. It sounds equivalent to a 1970's 12 TV!! Did we miss something when setting it up?

Hello, Kim -

I found the following evaluation of the sound quality for the Vizio D television from the Rtings.com web site:
[Quote]
The sound quality is sub-par, and the TV doesn't get very loud. You will definitely benefit from having a separate sound system. Even a cheap sound bar would be an improvement.
[End quote]

So, you probably didn't make any errors in setting the TV up and may need to purchase a sound bar or speakers. We have an older model Vizio TV and found the sound quality is improved with added speakers. Our speakers can work as a sound bar or 2 speaker units on each side of the TV.

Why mic sound muffled

Depends on what you mean by "muffled". Internal microphones and standard external ones are not high quality mics, but that sound I would describe more as fuzzy. So if you could be a little more descriptive I could help further.

My laptop brand acer aspire 4750G is volume low problem

Title: my laptop brand acer aspire 4750G is volume low problem

Ok, you can purchase a good quality Headphone or a woofer to improve your soun quality.
Otherwise you install Winamp with DFX, that also increase your sound quality as well as volume.

Hi, When I play video tapes on the VCR the sound is very muffled. You can't hear it. The DVD is fine though, please help.

Hello,

If the sound quality seems to be muffled and the DVD seems to be working perfectly fine, there still is a problem somewhere that is why it is giving the muffled sound.

All you need to do is to check the RF prong and try to adjust it at the back of the DVD to see if its sound quality improves, if not, you will have to change the prong completely.

After changing it, the sound quality will be as perfect as it is supposed to be.

Take care and good luck

Poor cound quality

does the XM use a radio station for recieving the sound or is it wired in to the vehicle. if you have to set a radio station so you can use the XM then what you can do it set the station to some other channel. it maybe to close to a real radio station or the frequency it to weak and you'll need a stronger signal

Nothing, it is designed for good quality headphones. If you are using inferior headphones, your sound reproduction will be low quality.
