Could be a clogged pump but it is almost always oversudsing due to incorrect amounts or kind of detergent being used. If the artificial intel monitoring the motor's amp draw gets a slight current change, then it determines it needs to get rid of suds. If it can't resolve the issue it goes into a suds lockdown and declares an error.

Frigidaire front-loading washing machines have an electronic control panel where the wash cycle and any other wash options are selected, and the wash cycle is initiated and stopped, if necessary. The control panel also has indicator lights that show the washer status and will display an error code if there are issues with the washer. The "E20" error code indicates a possible pump problem.
Blocked Pump
One of the primary reasons why there may be an "E20" error code on a Frigidaire front-loading washing machine is if there is something blocking the pump. Disconnect the washing machine from the power and release the clips on each side to remove the front access panel. Set a container under the pump drain, which is located on the lower right side of the washing machine. Open the pump drain plug and allow it to drain. Clean out any debris that might be causing the obstruction, then close the drain plug. Close the access panel and restore power to the washer.
Drain Hose
If the drain hose is blocked or crimped, the water may not pump out fast enough, causing the pump error to appear on the display. Straighten out the drain hose in the rear of the washing machine and move it away from the washer if it's trapped between the wall and the washing machine.
Oversudsing
If too much detergent--or the wrong kind of detergent--is used in the washing machine, too many suds may result. This can overwhelm the drain and pump system, resulting in the error. Use only high efficiency (HE) laundry detergent with Frigidaire washing machines and follow specific instructions on the laundry container for the recommended amount of detergent. Run a drain cycle if there are excess suds in the washer to clear out the system.
Pressure Switch or Control Boar
The pressure switch may not be communicating properly with the control board, which can cause the E20 error to occur. The other possibility for the E20 error code is if the control board has failed entirely. Try to reset the washing machine by pressing "Stop/Cancel" and disconnecting the washing machine power cord. Wait 30 seconds, then restore power. Make a new cycle selection and press "Start" to see if the error code returns. If it does, turn off the washing machine and contact Frigidaire for repair.
Hi Error code e20 means a clogged drain pump. This might have happened due to small clips, pins, coins, etc being stuck in the pump. Please note that error e20 can also occur when the drain pump is not pumping fast enough or when the pump fails. To fix the issue you'll need to check the drain pump. Remove the 2 screws from the bottom of the front access panel, it will come off. Now check for the pump on the right side and remove hoses from it. Remove pump from machine then remove whatever is there in the pump. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.
zanussi error E20 suggests a pump/draining problem. remove pump/filter and clean it all out. its located at the end of the drain hose at the bottom of machine. power off. it might need replacement.
the hose coming from tub to the pump has a filter in it.you need to pull filter out and empty it.E20 means that you have a slow drain,or clog.If the pump is noisier than ussual then you may need to replace pump.but check filter first.
E20 on your machine means some sort of Drain problem. If it actually goes through the Spin cycle o.k. then there is most likely some water still not drained out at the time of the tumble dry. Check the drain to make sure it isn't clogged. also the drain hose.
I suggest you snake out the drain into which the machine waste hose goes, the standpipe that is. The drain could be blocked somewhere causing pressure problems which is conveyed to the machine. Be sure to replace the machine exit hose at about 3 feet from ground level, and dont shove it too much into the standpipe. Do not block up the point where the machine hose goes into the standpipe, it shouldn't be air tight.
Hi Helenw,
The error message E20, simply means the filter plastic cage which is located behind the trap door bottom right side of the machine is full and needs to be cleaned out.
All the fibres and lint gets trapped in here and prevents the waste water from escaping, hence Error code E20.
