Kenmore 587.1616 - upper sprayarm doesn't move -

Hi, trouble with upper sprayarm... tried most everything.
a). no obstructions/blockage of sprayarm
b). cleaned out base (gook removed), could not actually get to chopper... but got to rotating axle
c). pressure to machine okay... (not sure about top)
d). roof entry of water aligned with funnel water intake (activating upper spray arm)
e). worked fine recently
f). used high power hose (outside) and sprayed right into sprayarm... did not rotate (although it was free to do so ... this confused me)... water just dribbled out... yet no known damage to spray arm.

any ideas? got to area of chopper but did not get to actual rotating blade. pulled out lots of hair! but chopper axle does freely rotate by hand.

any ideas? had to ask the guru... thanks so much in advance. pete

Won't drain completely

Check the inlet to the pump for blockage, make sure that the outlet pipe is not kinked, that there is nothing obstructing the pipe and that the pump is actually operating. Check the filter to see if it is not clogged or obstructed. If possible back flush through the outlet pipe and try draining the machine once more before using it again.

Apparently no water pressure to upper washing arm.

Hi sounds like there is a blockage in the circulation pump which causes low water pressure as it cannot push the water around. You would have to remove the unit and turn on it's side and remove the circulation pump to clear the blockage.

Also check all the holes in your spray arms for any blockages. Best to remove each arm and clean in the sink. Any blockages causes the arms not to turn.

Lower spray arm siemens aquastop dishwasher doesn't rotate

Sprayers require water to pass through the jets to provide motion to the arms.

Suggestion;

Remove the sprayer from the machine and look for blockages. (Removal should be easy, at it is expected that the user will need to clean the jets occasionally; If you have any problems removing it, consult your manual).

Suspect blockage top rotating washer arm does not spin

Both arms (upper and lower) are fed from the back of the machine, when you close the door the arms make a water tight seal with the pumped water in your washer.
Check to see that when the machine is full that both the arms will turn with very little pressure. (watch out for forks sticking out of the cuttlery tray etc.)
You can usually clear a blockage by putting a bag over the back of the arm that engages with the pumped water on the arm that "IS WORKING" this will increase the pressure to the arm that is not working usually freeing the obstruction.

Washer problem

Inspect the drain hose, see if there is any obstruction.
Try to understand if the machine does not drain at all or if the cycle is not completing , and timer stops before completinc cycle.

If the machine is not draining, then, once you check the drain hose and see no obstruction in there, it can be a faulty drain pump, or a faulty water level switch. If machine instead does not complete the cycle, it is a faulty timer/programmer.

See here for more detailed explanation: It won't drain

Hose Collapses When I Try to Use Wand

Hi Both.

Ok you have A blockage, Remove flexi hose completly from rear of machine & completly remove wand & handle from the hose.

Now check flexi hose for obstruction if none present move on to the wand & hanndle look down through tha wand for any obstruction look very carefully where the plastic handle meets alloy tube there is A slight bend here often A coin gets stuck here & flips accross to block oppening when you try to use wand.

If you cant see anything coin etc put hose back on machine & switch on there should be good suction from the flexi hose,
Now with machine still switched on push alloy pipe back on if the hose suddenly pulls back & there is poor or no suction you definately have A coin stuck at the bend.

You will need A broom handle or other long solid pole to hit it out.
