169 is an internal IP. If you are not already, try a hard wired connection to the router. If this fails, you will need to get in touch with D-link.

DI-524 status problem

Did this happen after a firmware upgrade? If so, this link may help:

http://borgetech.blogspot.com/2007/09/d-link-di-524-revision-b4-status-light.html

Apparently there's a utility which will force firmware to load on the router. The steps are a bit technical, though.

If that doesn't work, the router is probably toast. Time for a new one.

Windows Vista to a Wireless DI-624 problems

I have a Toshiba Satellite connected to a Di-624m and I have the same problem.

One solution to many problems with D-Link is to ;

UNPLUG BOTH MODEM AND D-LINK.

WAIT 20 SECONDS (TWENTY SECONDS)

PLUG BACK IN AND TRY TO CONNECT.

DO NOT JUST SHUT THE POWER OFF, IT IS NOT THE SAME!

IF YOU DONT UNPLUG LONG ENOUGH IT WILL NOT WORK.

RECCOMENDATIONS:
CONNECT DIRECT WITH A LAN CABLE TO D-LINK

EVEN BETTER
CONNECT TO YOUR MODEM WITH A LAN OR USB-VERY FAST.

REPLACE THE D-LINK HUB! (LESS THAN A $100 !?!?!?)

WARNINGS-

OUR D-LINK ROUTER HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS FOR THE PAST YEAR ON OUR NETWORK, SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS WE BLAMED ON VISTA.

This wireless enviroment can corrupt downloads.
I went crazy trying to solve several download errors.
connecting direct to the hub with a lan cable solved the problem.

I have totally lost faith in this wireless system.
sorry D-link the di-264m is HISTORY soon.!

D-Link DI-624M

Looks like the file that gets downloaded has a .bix extension.
Try changing the extension to .bin
Then try the update
I think I had to do that when it first came out.

Even with back reset hold for 10 sec. No reset at all

Check to make sure you're using the correct power adapter for the router. Your computer uses a 169.... address when it fails to connect to the router...this is a normal symptom when the router is not working correctly. Your router may have failed and will need to be replaced.
