My epson stylus cx6400 says printer error check documentation and if necessary call service. I saw that somebody else had this problem and the solution but it isn't workiing. What is the maintenance (spanner) button? My printer does not say this anywhere. Also my stop and clear are two different buttons.

try doing 4 head cleans and then leave the printer powered up over night. Don't print or anything else after the head cleans until the morning then do one more head clean (this soaks the print head in ink overnight and then the final head clean should clear any obstruction. If the printer still refuses to print in colour, you could try replacing the cartridges anyway as they can be faulty. The only problem is thaty sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new priner. (how silly is that!) By the way, are you using compats or epson original ink carts?

Call or email Epson Tech Support.

pull the plug and unplug it again..or load and unload your cartridge..,or change the cartridge you using...maybe the printer don't recognize the printhead..

know what operating system you are using is it Windows Vista or XP? look for the driver that is matched to your Operating System(OS)...

if you are confused let me know your OS asap and I'll will give the correct driver for you to download...

Do you have any other indicators such as flashing lights or similar?

My guess is that it MIGHT be a "service required" error meaning the waste pads are full in which case this guide may help..

There's a reset sequence you can follow near the end of the article which I'd try... If that solves it then you'll need to deal with the waste pads.. If not, you'll know it's something else and can report back..
