Looks like the other person who answered didn't understand your question so I'll add my $0.02. I don't know how to "reset" after a refill, but I can tell you to put clear tape (like Scotch) over the left column of gold contacts on the black cartridge. This will eliminate your ability to choose print in black/gray (you will have to print in color). I do not know how to reset the color cartridge. The tape trick won't work on it.

Lexmark S405 refill cartridge reset

When a Lexmark cartridge is refilled, it will not be able to report its ink level.
Please note that all Lexmark printers work best when original supplies or genuine Lexmark cartridges are used. We do not recommend the use of third party, refilled or remanufactured cartridges - you might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark.

Lexmark 2500 series ink cartridge problems

ok, i called lexmark and finally figured out the problem so many people are having with the unsupported cartridge error. it seems there are a few different varieties of 2500 series printers. mine for example is a 2500, came with a 2500 series user manual, but is actually considered a 2580! this is huge for the ink cartridge- as a 2580 is the only version that takes number 2 and number 3 cartridges. i switched from the 28 and 29 cartridges that the manual said to use and the box said was compatible for and put the 2 and 3 cartridges in, and it worked fine. i complained to lexmark that the manual is deciving and costing people money. she offered to send me the right cartridges free of charge. i hope this helps some of you!<br />

I refilled Lexmark ink cartridges 36 black and 37 colored and my lexmark printer 4650 series keeps saying empty cartridges and won't let me print. Can you Help?

36 and 37 can be refilled, but they won't work. They are "return program cartridges" as Lexmark calls them. That actually means that they CAN NOT be refilled. You need to buy 36A or 36XLA and 37A or 37XLA. Those are refillable.
Here is link to Lexmark's site, with a compatibility list.

Hope that helps!

I need to reset my ink levels so my X3550 refilled cartridges

If you have refilled the cartridges you got along with the printer, you can't reset them. 23 and 24 are not meant to be refilled. They are what Lexmark call "return program cartridges"- they can't be refilled, you can send them back to Lexmark ( that's why they are called "return cartridges"). You need to buy either 23A and 24A or 34 and 35, those cartridges are refillable.

Refill inkcartridge 17 of lexmark x2250 don't work

“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.

Reset Lexmark 36 Black cartridge?

I managed to get it working, just damage the connection point (where the chip is). I used a knife to break part of the connection and now I can fill the cartridges myself for a fraction of the price :)

Refilling lexmark cartridges x2500

There are a couple ways to trick it into accepting the cartridge. You can put a different one in, take it out and then put the filled one in. Or you can find a refill kit with instructions on what contacts to cover with tape and you have to do it 2 or 3 times to get the printer to reset. Sometimes you can shut off the computer and printer for 20 min and start it up again. Or you can get the sledge hammer and smash the stupid printer before it sucks up your life savings and vow never to buy from a company that profits from causing problems that they tell you can only be solved by using more of their overpriced solutions.

Refilling lexmark cartridges x2500

Hey....I solved the lexmark out of ink problem!!!HA!!! what you have to do if you want to refill these is "pop" off the top of the cartridge. It is not easy as it is glued down...using a small screwdriver preferably a small flat jewelers screw driver you can peel back the plastic that seperates the "lid" of the ink cartridge. you have to use a little force but you can get it off. Once you do this the cartridge will always read full!!!!!! just tape it or super glue it back on. You never have to take it off again! although I recomend cleaning the ink sponges inside every 3 refills. but this works great.....ha ha lexmark.....I got ya!!!!
