HP Laserjet 4250: upgraded firmware, printer says ...

Hp Laserjet 4250: upgraded firmware printer says Firmware corrupt in external attachment resend upgrade. Resending doesn't help. The attachment is a Q2443B stapler/stacker. I removed the stacker and successfully upgraded the printer firmware but now the firmware in the Q2443B stapler/stacker unit is corrupt. How do I install the firmware on the Q2443B stapler/stacker?

only problem ive had with the earlier model not doing duplex was a sheet of paper in the duplexer bin . This is hard to find but if you pull out the paper tray and look in the space where the tray goes up above theres a lever which you can push and it releases the hidden duplex bin which stores the paper at half way through the double pass and if there is any paper in there then the printer will not duplex.

I foud the solution read carrefuly and he will works !!!

Turn off the printer .
Open the side cover where place the formatter on the right face
Here you will se a jumper
On your computer delete all hp software
Install HP 3055 pcl 6 drivers and select manualy your usb port where is connect the printer ( the printer is always off)

Download this :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software8/COL13630/ma-38209-5/3052-55_FW_Update-20070331.exe
Open the program select your printer and send the firmware (the printer is always off)
When the firmware is upload completly and you see the smileys on the sofrware update.
Closed the jumper P19L on the formatter and turn on the printer.
You will see message on the printer Downloading.
Open immediatly the jumper connection
Wait and you will see a message like Update successfully :)
turn off the printer
wait 5 seconds
Turn on the printer
It s ok

You need to connect the unit via USB and then run the HP firmware update utility so that the current firmware can be installed. This error is usually caused when a firmware update is interrupted. Current firmware for this unit is 20100902.

Need further information as there are several ways this can go, some of which are fairly complicated. Does the screen state Download firmware over USB? or Resend over parallel port?

Post the exact message and I will see if I can find you the tech document that shows the steps needed, depending on what the screen says.

Hi,
I think you are since the dc controller only controls paper movement and nothing else. A 49 error is a firmware error and has many causes from applications, network and just defective formatter. If the errors occurs with the printer not connected to anything, then the formatter would be the logical issue if the firmware has been updated. Keep in mind having a jet direct card in the slot can cause the error, so the only true way to test is with everything removed with the exception of firmware, memory and power. Also keep in mind that if the 4250/4350 series power is derived from the lvps and not the dc controller. Also with this model the embedded jet direct card is known to occasionally have issues. When you upgrade the firmware for the formatter it also upgrades the firmware on the embedded nic card. Again the only true way to test would be to disable the embedded nic card on powerup.

How to clear error code 49.4c18 on HP laserjet 4250
any 49.xxxx codes are related to firmware crash.
the probable cause is a corrupt file in the print queue. remove the printer from the network then after network is disconnected - cycle the power on the machine ( switch off then wait 10 seconds switch back on)
the 49 error will probably clear . if so Clear All print jobs in Print queue on the computerr workstation. then reconnect printer and away you go!
if however the error remains then you will need to Upgrade the firmware or replace the firmare chip/formatter ( unlikely I've only ever replaced one out of thousands of calls for this fault)

For whatever reason your printer is trying to do a firmware upgrade and it isn't working. If this came out of the blue, you may have to replace the formatter. RFU = remote firmware upgrade. If you caused the problem while trying to upgrade the firmware, try it again

My hp color Laserjet cp3525dn displayed error 55.50. Resend upgrade.
I couldn't find an error code of 55.50 in the service manual.
All 55.xx errors are DC Controller problems.
I did find the message "resend upgrade".
That refers to a Firmware upgrade that didn't complete successfully.
If that's what happened in your case...restart the upgrade and keep away from the printer
until the upgrade finishes.

If you are getting 49.XXXX error codes while printing PDF files, you can try upgrading the machines firmware.
This seems to be a common "PDF file printing" problem with the LaserJet 4250.

My 4250 seems to be locked out after trying a firmware update. Its stuck on asking me to reload the firmware via parellel port. However it was originally attached via ethernet.

To continue turn off then on
 A critical firmware error has occurred that
caused the processor on the formatter to
abort the operation.
This type of error can be caused by invalid
print commands, corrupt data, or invalid
operations.
In some instances, electrical noise in the
cable can corrupt data during transmission
to the printer. Other causes include poorquality
parallel cables, poor connections, or
specific software programs.
Sometimes, the formatter itself is at fault,
which is usually indicated by a 79 Service
Error.
1 Press CANCEL JOB to clear the print job
from the printer memory.
2 Turn the printer off and then on.
3 Go to www.hp.com/go/lj4200_software,
www.hp.com/go/lj4250_software,
www.hp.com/go/lj4300_software, or
www.hp.com/go/lj4350_software.
Select Download Drivers and
Software. Check for the latest firmware
image version at the bottom of the
page. If this firmware image is newer
than the one installed on the printer
and the printer can receive a firmware
update, download the newer firmware
upgrade. Not all
HP LaserJet 4200/4300 printers can
receive firmware upgrades.
4 Try printing a job from a different
software program. If the job prints, go
back to the first program and try
printing a different file.
