To delete files on my iriver E100, do I have to connect to something like Windows Media Player or can I just do it straight from the E100 menu? Everytime I try it gives me the message "can not delete the file in MTP mode". I do NOT have the E100 connected to my PC when I try this. The E100 manual just says to hold down the right arrow button to delete files from File Manager, but I always get the above message and it doesn't delete the file. Thanks!

Try this method
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal
Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on
"Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you
do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release,
right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

I have the same issue. And I inadvertently filled my memory by doing a voice recording when space was low. Now I cannot attach my e-100 to my pc in data mode to manage the files. When I try, I get the message Not Enough Space -Yes -No. If I click on Yes, it opens the file manager briefly and then goes into charging only mode. If I click No, I get the message Generating Database for less than half a second and then again it goes to File Manager and then to charging only mode. Is there a way that I can delete a file without attaching to the pc?

I record movies on windows 7 media centre and can't play them on my iriver e100 player. I also can't watch mp4 format. What do I need?

Greetings - your IRiver E100 only plays certain .avi files and versions of Windows Media (.wmv) files.

To use your media center and MP4 files you would have to obtain converter software that would convert the files to be compatible with your player. Recording TV shows creates files which are incompatible with the E100 as are MP4 files.
For the TV recordings you would have to do as follows:

Forget the mention of IOS device above - you need to do the same step.

mikeywaf_40.gif

You then have to convert them to files that the player can use. I'm told this software works well and is only $9.95 (USD). Take a look HERE. (I have no connection with this company).

For other files (like MP4 files) you just have to use the converter software I mentioned above and don't need the first step I displayed above.

Enjoy your Video.

How do i delete music from my E100?

If you want to delete stuff from your E100 while your actually using it then you go to file manager in the menu, find the file you want to delete and then hold the right arrow until it comes up with 'delete file'. If you want to delete it while your on your computer then find the folder of your E100, find the file and just hit the delete key or right click and 'send to trash' or drag the file to the trash.

How to delete video files from iriver e100 mp3

The video files should be in the video folder instead of the music folder - use Windows Explorer to be sure. If they are not showing up, switch the device's mode to MTP mode and see if the video files show up as available for deletion.

Downloading videos onto the iriver E100

Software / Media Transfer The E100 comes packaged with a disc containing iriver plus 3 media player, firmware updater, video converter, and Windows Media Player 11. If you have owned an iriver player, you are familiar with this software with the included iriver media player. This is a standard media player much like any other but has a few features catering to the iriver family of players, such as a firmware updater, ebook txt manager, and video converter. This media player is a bit different from Windows Media Player but still is straightforward and easy to use. If you don’t care for iriver’s media player you can always use any other MTP based media player to manage playlists and load your E100 since also included on the disc is a video converter and firmware updating utility.
If you don’t like to use media players to transfer the E100 will allow you to select either MTP or MSC transfer mode. This means it is drag and drop and also compatible with any OS. Drag and drop will work fine in MTP mode as well, but only if you are using Windows XP SP2 or Vista.

and the difference between e10 / e100 your guess is just as good as mine
