Gateway mfatxstl elp 500c. MEMORY PROBLEM

Gateway mfatxstl elp 500c. I attempted to add memory to this computer. I tried to add a PC 133 chip but it was not compatible. When I plugged it back in the computer did power up but nothing came on the screen. The fan is running but there are no beeps at all when I start it. I then took out all the memory and restarted it and got three long beeps. I put the original memory back in and still got nothing. What should I do ?

Check all of the other connections all around where you was at. Sometimes it dont take much to knock one of them loose. Also take the chip backn out and take a pencil eraser and clean the contacts on the chip with it.

I have the Gateway 510G. It will no longer boot. When I press the "On" button, both lights (power and system) light up for about 5-10 seconds and unit then turns off. I've cleaned the inside with air. ...

Try opening the case and "reseating" the RAM (memory). Remove all memory and try to boot. If that works, shut down and add a RAM chip into RAM Slot 1 and try to boot. If that works, add another chip, and so on. It is not impossible for 1 RAM chip to be fried. Also, if you have more than one hard drive hooked up to the PC, try booting with only the boot drive (OS drive). If that works, maybe a slave drive is fried. Good luck.

Processor is a pentium 4 but i want to upgrade to a duo core. need to know the socket number on the gateway mfatxstl elp 500xl pc pentium 4 processor. please help

Looks like a 478. I pulled one comment from a person using a 1.7GHz and a review gives a 2.6GHz. A 478 seems logical without taking off the heatsink. I don't believe anyone makes a dual-core 478.

These guys seem to have a fair amount of 478s available, just have to know the specs on the buss (400,533,800).

Problems with 3 brand new PC 133 512 MB RAM in Netvista 6794

That last RAM probably is good. Many motherboards have problems using many different memory. All of the memory you have should be at least identical to ensure that they work. When RAM run at different speed or require a little more voltage, they will not let your motherboard boot. You can try mixing up the order you put the RAM in. Try putting the last RAM in the first slot by itself, the motherboard should boot. Then try the rest.

Also, whenever you add or change hardwares, you should clear the CMOS/BIOS settings.

Need memory for gateway elp 500c

Easiest way is to unplug power from PC and pul out memory stick.

Alternatively you can download / install an awesome utility called
CPU-Z and go to memory tab to ID type of ram.

Where can I find a E210882 N232 Motherboard Manual and how much memory can the board accept or recognize? This computer was given to my Daughter and I'm trying to soop it up a bit.The board is in an old...

I think that motherboard is actually an Intel D865GLC; there's lots of info available on the intel site. Here's the manual: (http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d865glc/sb/cs-008973.htm).
Look at the manual and see if it matches up. If it is a D865, it looks like it uses DDR memory, up to 3 or 4 GB (4 slots)

Want to add memory to Gateway 700x

Max memory is 2GB, i.e. 1GB per slot(DIMM), so you will need 2 X (SimpleTech 1 GB PC3200 400MHz DDR RAM). {Always use matched pairs only}
