I have a kenmore progressive upright vacuum can't find the reset

I have a kenmore progressive upright vacuum cleaner. I got a shoelace cought in the rotating brush. I dislodged the shoe lace but the brush would not rotate. I heard that there is a reset button but I cannot find it. The model number is 216.37105800. Where is the reset button or can I download a users manual? Thanks for the help. Russ

I would try turning the brush by hand to see if there is any resistance. I'm not aware of a "reset" switch that is end user accessible. If the vacuum still has suction, make sure you are using it on a carpet. The brush doesn't turn on wood or vinyl flooring.

SOURCE: Power brush SEB234/236

Hi Clyde

Without looking at your exact problem with my eyes, I believe that it may be as simple as Unplugging the unit, then try to grab the shoelace, if it is still visible, you may need needle-nose pliers, and then try to unwind the shoelace. It may be jamming the brush!

It sounds like what happened to my wife recently! I was able to remove the lace, and was back in business! On my unit, (Kenmore brand), I had to remove the cover of the head. While I was in there, I replaced the agitator brush belt. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Kenmore direct drive will no longer self-propell

There may also be a reset button. If the brushes get stuck the unit can shut off power to the brushes to keep a total melt down from occurring. The reset button should return power in these types of vacuums.

SOURCE: I ran over a shoe lace and now it is making a loud rattling noise

The All Floors model has a protective belt clutch system and the rattling sound means the clutch has slipped. This would have to be repaired officially by a Dyson repairer.

Just got a shoelace caught in the brush now brush doesn't spin...dc25 upright..

Hi there,

Your DC25 is equipped with a safety feature which shuts off the brushbar if it becomes tangled with a rug fringe, shoelace, etc. It's easy to reset - please follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1156&product=DC25-ALLFLOORS

This should get the brushbar running again. Please note the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've used the silver switch next to the red on/off switch to turn it off.

If you have any further questions about using or maintaining your Dyson cleaner, please get in touch with us directly - one of our experts will be happy to answer your queries. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

I have a Kenmore Progressive Inteleclean Upright vacuum cleaner (with Bag) . It has good suction only through the hose now and none through the bottom for cleaning carpets. and, there is a noise like it...

Theres a little bendable neck that hose with suction plugs into. Thats the one thats clogged. You will have to fish it out by taking off the roller and clearing the clog.

Sounds like something is 'stuck' -

unplug, then unwind the shoelace from the roller.

If you push the reset, it should push in and if nothing happens, then there is a problem with either your cord, switshes or motor.
