Local interference or a drifting signal caused by being in a fringe area, receiving an additional signal from a reflecting source intermittently (such as when a train goes past nearby, a low flying aircraft or even a large truck) or a number of other possibilities.
Even a strong wind deflecting an aerial a little can be the guilty party.

Too much signal can be as bad for digital reception as insufficient signal.

A signal strength meter can be an inexpensive way to detect the source of your trouble.

Just go to walmart and buy a good digital antena.Should work great.Just rescan all ur channels again.

Your new TV doesn't need it but it could well work with your DVR. It wouldn't give you the benefit of HD recording but with it, you could convert the digital signal into analog and record the results.

The short answer is yes. The method is to set the TV to receive either channel 3 or 4. The converter will receive the digital broadcasts and "re-broadcast" them on either 3 or 4 analog for the TV to receive.

You TV is able to receive Free to air Terrestrial Analog broadcasts by just connecting the antenna. However if you wish to receive Digital Terrestrial broadcasts (DVB), you need to obtain a digital receiver for Terrestrial Digital Broadcasts. It can be easily connected to your TV.
 

I located my owners manual and was able to resolve the issue
