My acer V193w is putting itself on black?
This trouble maybe power supply or inverter boards is defective.
first you can test the voltage of the multr, and then check which part is defective. From Wisiny.com can find those parts
if you have any question, please let us know email:[email protected],we sincerely hope we can help you!

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Guest, It might be possible to restore unit for 2 -3 more years use! Investigate a possible DIY fix by reading some Fixya profiles. All of the tech's here at fixya already know right where to look for and attempt a cheap low cost (< 5cents) in parts (solder) fix, after they find (locate) the one "thermally intermittant hairline thin circular fractured" solder joint on the "switch-mode-power-supply/cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp inverter power-supply printed circuit board. Yes, this **** happens all the time, usually 6 to 36 months after warranty has expired. Fractures occur with "time" and number of "ON/OFF" thermal cycles!!!! I still use an old 32" "94"Zenith tv. Repaired one bad solder joint in "99" and unit still works today. It's your call and your dime. Trade for new or do some reading of "louie12fix" "buddymc" "budmrtn" fixya profiles and follow all links to other sites including "YOUTUBE" for DIY video clips!! Yes, your black or blank n black screen problem has been documented not just 10 or 30 times before, but many thousands of times. Just do some surfing on fixya and the web and then you will be able to decide what to do. Hope this helped. 12fixlouie < new file

Hello mat78, Unfortunatelly the problem is hardware based. You will need to have the monitor repaired in a service center. Here's why: LCD/TFT monitors don't produce light themselves. They are composed by a matrix of transistors (TFT - thin film transistor) that have the property to reflect or allow some light (certain wavelenghts)to pass through them. They don't produce light by themselves. Instead there is a fluorescent tube (neon like) light inside the monitor and that's the light source used in order for you to see what's on the screen. A flourescent light is suposed to last pretty much, i don't think yours has a problem, you say it works for some seconds or so. Instead your problem is most probable with the inverter circuitry that powers on that light. It's a common problem among these types of monitors but in your situation i don't think it will be an expensive repair. In the case that the screen is dark (in a dark place you can't read or view anything on it) but if you apply light to it ( a flashlight or something) and you see something, then the problem is most likely to have occured with the invertor. Try to ask at a local service center for a repair, this shouldn't be an expensive procedure. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: monitor goes black
Sorry to have to tell you this, but this is common in LCD monitors. The reason that it is going black when it boots is for one of two reasons. You either have a bad power supply that powers your LCD or your LCD's backlight is blown. These can be repaired or you can purchase a new one. But if it goes black 9 times out of 10 is because the backlight is bad. These can be repaired!

I have the same problem with my Acer 5684 laptop. Just bought display backup light (CCFL) from ebay. Hopefuly will arrive within next 5-10 days. I will let you know if this solves it.
