most software is available on the internet for download. if you try just plugging it into your computer via db or USB the computer should recognize it and you can set it up...in all probability you will need a driver and that will be a case of downloading it if not already present on your computer
If you lost your cd-rom drive (device) then you can buy new from pc shop, but if you lost your drivers or software then you can download latest drivers from support site http://global.acer.com/support/download.htm
back up any important files then load the recovery disc that came with your computer this will solve the lost cd rom and any other things that have gotten lost
