I don't know if this would be called resetting, but if you want to start over while programming, press the "Menu" button repeatedly until it "backs out" of programming mode. If no keys are pressed for one minute, the radio will exit the menu. There really is no way of resetting the weather radio, even if you unplug it and take out the batteries.

Don't know if yours is one but some 95 Honda civic have a antitheft program. If the battery ever goes dead or voltage is removed from it, it will not work until a program code is given to bring the radio back to life. you might want to try searching 95 Honda civic radio code.

Attempted to adjust the color display on my brand new Cobra 29 LX and now the display shows only the number 88 and some rows of digital blocks-the CB display is completely locked up and nothing i've...

The display on this radio uses firmware. I fear there may be a glitch in it. Maybe it was flashed wrong. If you hit the dim button, and it doesn't go back to normal, something is not write with the firmware.

There is not much out there yet about tweaking this. You will probably have to send it to cobra. It should still be under warranty.

Hi, Yes as a matter of fact you can re-format the whole enchilada by " finding " an " original equipment manufacturers " operating system c.d./d.v.d. then all you will have to do is choose boot from disc right after you power it on-you may even luck out and be provided with a " repair windows installation " option! then if it asks for one-and only if the brand of "OEM windows operating system " you have match your laptop-enter in the number from your Windows sticker on back. Hope this was of some assistance. Prodzilla.

Continuos ring and no weather reporting

Make sure you have everything programmed correctly on the radio and that the antenna is fully extended. If you have it located in a metal structure, have the radio close to a window. You may have to buy an external antenna to get a better reception. Go to www.midlandradio.com to view their suggested external antenna for the radio. If you are receiving bad weather right now, the transmitter at your local weather center may be having interference in it. This is my best solution for this. I hope this helps.

MY RADIOSHACK NASCAR PRO-84 SCANS THREW CHANNELS BUT STAYS STUCK ON ONE CERTAIN WEATHER CHANNEL AND WONT CONTINUE SCANNING AND I NEED TO NO HOW TO DELETE THAT CHANNEL COMPLETELY.

The NOAA weather frequencies have constant broadcasts, so your scanner "locks" onto them. The only ways to prevent this are to either delete the weather frequency or lock it out. To delete, just program the frequency "0.0" (zero point zero) into the channel. To lock it out, press the L/O key while on the weather freq.

Error

You have come to the right place at the right time to get this solution! I just had this problem not to long ago. First I research it online and pulled up this website (http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lsx/?n=nwrfaq#FAQ9). They said that reading will come up because you haven't received a Routine Weekly Test (RWT), and that you should recheck the programming and monitor it next time to see if it is functioning properly. Lucky for me though, one of our area's news stations was hosting their "Weather Radio Wednesday" event at Walgreens. One of the news station's weathermen and some people that work for this civil emergency radio agency, were there to help program weather radios. I told one of the radio programmers the "check reception" problem and all he did was take the batteries out, put them back in the radio and check the programming information to make sure everything was okay. He said everything was fine, just make sure the antenna is extended out fully (which I had already knew that and had it near a window setting.) When I came out of the store, I looked at the LCD and "check reception" was not scrolling across the screen anymore. Maybe you should what this guy did and just monitor the radio for an RWT. They usually have these on Wednesdays at 11:00 am.

Need to make sure programmed

Program the Midland 74-109 Weather Radio
a) Turn unit on. Extend the antenna. Adjust volume up slowly; Do you hear anything? If not, try replacing the 9 volt battery with a fresh one, in the accessible battery compartment underneath the unit. Repeat above steps.
b) If no sound is heard, turn unit over and look for "WEATHER" slide switch on bottom. With unit on & volume adjusted to comfortable hearing level, slowly slide switch down (or up) through various frequencies [1)162.550, 2) 162.400, 3) 162.475, 4) 162.425, 5) 162.450, 6) 162.500, 7) 162.525] until voice transmissions are heard. This should be the closest National Weather Service (NWS) broadcast for your area. Check the NWS website at http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/nwrbro.htm for your state, click on the state name, and look for the site name or site location nearest you. The frequency for that site should be the strongest, and appropriate for your area.
c) You can set the alert tone, for special weather alert broadcasts, on the bottom of the unit on the slide switch marked "ALERT". Set the switch to the desired type of alert: 1) LED [LED on top of unit (marked ALERT) lights up when alert is broadcast-no siren tone/alarm is heard] 2) LED & ALARM [LED lights up and alarm/ siren tone is heard] 3) VOICE [LED on top of unit lights up and voice broadcast is heard, only; no siren tone/alarm is heard].
d) Be sure to press the "ALERT" button on top of the unit and leave the volume at a comfortable listening level to hear weather alerts for your area (Alert LED on top of unit lights up to show Alert function is active). You can test the present volume level by pressing the "TEST" button. Be sure to press the "ALERT" button again after listening to the volume level to re-set the Alert function. You can listen to weather broadcasts anytime, by pressing the "WEATHER" button. After listening, be sure to re-press the "ALERT" button to reset the Alert function.
e) 9 volt battery life should last about 6 to 7 months, depending on how much unit is used an number of alerts received. Replace battery every 6 months, or when you replace your smoke alarm battery, or at beginning and end of daylight savings time. A 12 volt AC adapter to replace the battery, can be used. One should have been supplied with unit. If not, a replacement can be found at Radio Shack.
f) This should complete your Midland Weather Alert Radio Model 74-109 programming.

WR-100 WEATHER RADIO

The WR-100 is slightly smarter than the average basic weather radio and therefore has a fair amount of programming loaded into it's firmware. (for good or bad)

It's not impossible for a power failure or spike to cause the internal processor to become confused every once and a while.

You may need to perform a full reset.

Remove the power adapter, remove the batteries and then press and hold the "WEATHER / SNOOZE" bar to bleed off any remaining charge in the capacitors and then plug the AC adapter back in.

Install fresh or known good batteries.

You've now essentially "rebooted" your radio and hopefully it will now function correctly again.

The only drawback is that you will have to reset any custom programming. As nifty as SAME technology is, I rarely use the function.
