My santos de cartier band got broken; I spoke to Cartier and they told me if I return the broken band they will supply me with a new one within 2 months but I am horified by the price. It will cost me $au 950.00 if I give them my broken band if not the new one $AU1500.00. If they want the old band where only two links linking directly to the watch are broken why is it so expensive. They want the old band but will they supply me with a brand new band?

Cartier is not the only company playing this game. Rolex invented the trade in game and now other high end Swiss brands are jumping on board.

Because you need or want the genuine band you have to put up with their game.

You can replace this band with any other leather band that will fit the mm specifications of the watch.

If you are familiar and comfortable with eBay, you can order a band off of eBay. However, the only way to buy a watch band and be sure it is authentic Cartier is to buy it directly from Cartier or an authorized dealer.

The watch keeps stopping even though seems to be wound properly.
I looked at their web site and all the Galbee models that I found (I didn't find yours) had a quartz movement.

If yours is new, then a trip to a dealer is in order. If is it not new, then a trip to the dealer to replace the battery is needed.

Only CARTIER itself will solve it. There is no way you can repair it outside CARTIER. Contact CARTIER and ask what the cost would be. Be prepaired to pay a lot.

The only place where you are likely to get a price from is either an authorized dealer or Cartier.

I suggest that you go to "Cartier.com", select your region and then "timepieces".

Saphire replacement and polish
Well if its glass you cant polish out the scratches! If that is a real Cartier watch then you need to send back to Cartier for that job. You can take it to an authorized retailer but they are going to mark the cost WAY up!!!!

Cartier signature
The cartier logo forms the right hand part of the 'V' on the VII numeral on my watch.

Initally it just looks the same as the V numeral until you look very closely.

The links of this watch require special tools and expertise.it's not like a seiko. you should take it to a cartier jeweler I don't think they would even charge you for that.
