Question about Dryers

Electric dryer no heat (tumble works)

Hi there.
I have an older model Eaton viking 5 dryer that has stopped heating. I believe it may be the thermocouple? on top of the drum (underneath the top cover) or the heating elements.
The machine still runs on all modes but just no heat. Any suggestions?

Do you have an ohmmeter or voltmeter? check them for continuity it will tell you if there are good or not?

Replace a belt on indesit dryer

Hello.

Tools needed to solve the problem

(A)Standard screwdriver,New belt
.

1 Unplug your dryer to disconnect power to the unit.

2 Remove the screws that hold the dryer top in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are located along the top and sides of the dryer. With older models -- 1996 and older -- the entire top comes off the dryer. For new models, the timer and console stay in place while the rest of the top comes off.

3 Remove the screws that hold the front panel and door in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are just inside the door at the top front left and right sides of the dryer. The front panel on older models will move to the right side and on newer models the door will move to the left.

4 Remove the existing belt by pulling the idler pulley to the right. This will take the tension off the belt and allow you to pull it away from the motor pulley.

5 Install the new dryer belt by wrapping it around the top of the drum and allowing it to fall around the circumference of the drum. The grooves of the new belt should face down toward the drum. Rotate the belt around the drum to ensure there are no twists in it.

6 Connect the new belt to the motor pulley. On newer models you can access the motor pulley on the front underneath side of the dryer. Pull the idler pulley to the right and loop the belt around it. On older models you can access the motor pulley through an access panel on the back of the dryer. Pull the dryer away from the wall and remove the access panel using a standard screwdriver. Repeat the same steps as on a newer dryer to install the belt around the motor and idler pulleys.

7 Replace the front panel of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.

8 Replace the top of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.

9 Plug the dryer in and make sure the belt works properly before trying to use the unit.

Thanks.

GE Gas Dryer (Model DQSR 483) Drum works but does not heat

There are three things besides what you aleady checked:
1. Open the small access door in front of the dryer and start the heat cycle. The ignitor must glow a bright orange so that it is hot enough to light the gas. If there is no orange glow, then the ignior needs replacement.

2. If it glows then cuts off, then glows, again and cuts off, the thermocouple sensor wire is out of position. It needs to be very, very close to the ignitor. This thermocouple sends a temperature signal when it senses that the ignitor is hot enough to ignite the gas. Unplug the dryer. Re-position the thermocouple wire mount so that the thermocouple wire is almost touching the ignitor. You may also "bend" the wire. Plug power back on and heat.

3. If it still does not heat, then the automatic gas valve that is controlled by the thermocouple sending unit is broken. The automatic gas valve cannot be safely "fixed" and must be replaced.
Hope it's just the thermocouple wire.

Eaton viking dryer model ED214W449 .Loud hum when you try to star

My Eaton Viking Dryer Model # ED214W449 was running, I heard a loud bang and realized the drum had stopped turning and won't restart. Is this a drum belt issue? Is it hard to repair myself. Where can I get the part for this. Thank you.

Clothes dryer ran ok an hour ago - not now

you may have a bushing problem on the drive motor due to dirt or flint. you can check that by removing the belt and try rotating the motor manually. see if it is easy to turn or not.check also the bushing if you can move the shaft sideways..if it has a slack then its a bushing problem. replace the drive motor.

Heat element(spring) does not stay on long enough

you found the problem yourself, yes its a thermostat, replace this, however the heat should stop on longer than it does, but please note this is a part that should cut out & reset itself, if needed to prevent fire or overheating, this part has gone what we call tired, do not bypass anything on the appliance and use it, this can be dangerous and is against health and safety law etc before continuing to use the dryer check all pipes for blockages as restriction of air flow causes the problem you have, so to prevent another faulty thermostat clean out properly.....
