Yes it is,although the whole peice running half way down will probably have to be purchased..It's called the(Clothes Mover)it has finns running down & can be removed by a bolt down the centre after removing the top cap.

I have a Kenmore 2110 top-loader. Is this the Fabric Softener dispenser in the center of the agitator? I have to take a lid off to get to it. Or do I need to do my fabric softener manually?

Nearly all of this style of top loader has the fabric softener dispenser in the centre cup of the agitator as pictured. Fill the dispenser using the amount recommended prior to starting your wash cycle. If it is getting clogged up, remove it and soak it in some hot water to dissolve the residue.

I am looking to buy a used Frigidaire GLWS1233AS2 Top Load Washer and GLER331AS2 . They are supposed to be 3 years old. Are they good machines or do they have lots of problems?

Mine is 10 yrs old and I am just now having a problem. Clothes are too damp after last spin cycle. Hopefully, I'll get an answer here soon. Another problem I noticed a few months after I got it, with this model, is the fabric softener dispenser on top of the agitator. You have to remove it every single time and clean it. I added a little water to it before adding fabric softener and thought that would help to stretch the cleaning to maybe once or twice a week. Don't do it! I started to smell mildew and found out why. The agitator shaft that this dispenser sits on was caked with old fabric softener. I just use the blue Downey ball now. The fabric dispenser stinks but I have had 10 yrs of good washing.

Fabric softener ends up around rim of washer.

When you say you've cleaned both parts - have you poured hot water in and seen it actually drain out of the top peice while it was removed from the agitator? Have you poured hot water into the agitator with the top peice removed and seen it drain out of the holes? If not, repeated flushing (of the agitator) and soaking (of the top peice) with hot water as needed until is drains may be required. Until you can get water to drain out of both peices alone, it will work automatically. Once you have the water draining try again with a regular load of laundry and fabric softener. If it still doesn't work...

Since you've cleaned both parts (the non-removable and removeable top portion) of the agitator - it would suggest that the fabric softener dispenser's actuator inside the agitator is not functioning properly. The fabric softener isn't being released in the rinse (or at all really) and as a result of the centrifugal forces during the high speed spin cycle - it is causes the fabric softener to move up the sides of the dispenser and spray out of the top of the agitator onto the rim. This may be caused a mechanical or electrical failure in the washer or washer control. It will continue to work like this until it is fixed - so I suggest that you do not use the dispenser.

You will likely need to have the washer professionally serviced to have it begin working again. You can save the repair costs and either add the fabric softener yourself during the rinse cycle - or use "dryer sheets" in the dryer instead.

Good luck!

How do I remove the fabric softener dispenser, Whirlpool, I wanna check replace agitator parts

The softener just pulls off, straight up. Then there is a bolt that holds the top agitator on. When you put it back together, be careful to align the tabs, they are very easy to miss and bend, then break.

Maytag MAV7000 AWW washing machine agitator won't spin freely.

When you grab the fabric dispenser and move the agitator "counter "clockwise you should hear the rachet noise, once you try and move it back "clockwise" the fabric dispenser should slide inside the agitator and the agitator should NOT move.

Gunk in middle of agitator

the fabric softener spins out of the cup after the wash cycle when spinning the water out of clothes, then the washer fills back up for the rinse w/ your softener having been dispensed. is there a nut at the bottom of your agitator where you see the gunk? If so you can take the agitator out by removing the nut but be careful of the little parts that make the agitator agitate. Do not disturb these little parts if you don't know about them. Does the gunk smell like grease or a mechanics garage? If so chances are it is a lubricant and should not be removed replace the cap and your softener cup and continue enjoying your machine.

Agitator Dogs

take the cap or fabric softener dispenser off the top of the agitator. under it should be a clear plastic cap with a little handle on it. take it out. under it should be a bolt (7/16) with a rubber seal under it, take it out and this will release the agitator and you will see the plastic dogs inside the agitator.

Fabric softener doesn't dispense

Fabric softener dispensers are notorious for getting all gummed up and clogged. Remove the dispenser cup and soak in some hot water to dissolve all residue. While you have the dispenser removed check under the dispenser cap in the agitator for gummy residue as well. Clean with hot water. There should also be an agitator seal cap under the dispenser. Make sure the cap and rubber o-ring are seated properly. Last of all, if the dispenser has a cone shaped cup inside, make sure it is inserted cone-side UP. The cup is designed to allow fabric softener to roll down the sides of it, NOT hold it. I hope this helps.
