Monitor comes on for 2 seconds then goes blank

Monitor was working fine. I used the windows control panel to remove some old programs. I deleted only old games or programs I no longer wanted. After I was done, I rebooted the computer. the monitor pops on for just a second or two then goes blank. If I turn the monitor's power button OFF then ON, it, once again, comes on for a second or two then goes blank.

The computer seems to be working fine.

Check if the cable connecting your monitor from the video card is properly secure and not loose...
You can also try this... turn off your cpu..remove the cable from your video card.....Open the housing....remove your video card from your motherboard... clean the contact surface of the video card with moisten cloth.... after cleaning...connect the video card to the motherboard...attached the cable to your video card.. close the housing and try to boot again...

I hope that work.. if not my suggestion is you try your video card in other computer, try also the monitor to other computer.. to see which one failed.

Much appreciated if you rate this help.. thanks..

It's an LCD so the problem is most likely the back-light inverter board. Take a flashlight and shine it directly into the screen from the front. Can you see the image on the screen now? If the image is there but you can't see it without the flashlight than the inverter board needs to be replaced. This is a VERY common problem. Good Luck and let me know what happens, His Dudeness

I entered the problem before. Here it is again:

In the Control Panel>Accessibility>Display
If the high contrast box is checked, uncheck it.
When you say in "Add program", where is that exactly? Under Display in the Accessibility window I only see High Contrast Options andCursor Options. Did you maybe change a program in the Control Panels "Add or Remove Programs" section? It's either that

or

your monitor may be entering power saving mode.

This problem could be that your Power Options in the Control Panel have been switched to "switch off the component ever now and then to save power". To change this, do the following:

1) Navigate to the Control Panel by clicking Start and then Control Panel. Then double click on Power Options as shown below circled in red.
slasher_x_14.jpg
2) This will then display the Power Options window as shown below.
slasher_x_16.jpg
3) Once you have opened the Power Option Properties, under Power Schemes select the one that best suits your PC system.
slasher_x_15.jpg
4) Then you can select whether or not to switch off your monitor and/or hard drives after a period of time when it is not being used.

If you have your PC on most of the time then I suggest you select Never as the turn off option for both your hard drive and monitor. If you are using a laptop the turning off the hard drive and screen can however save on battery power when the laptop is not in use.

If your problem persists then it might just be as simple as a loose connection, make sure that your monitor display plug is correctly plugged into your display card or onboard display correctly.

Let me know how it goes.

Why does my HP vs17 monitor screen keep going to blank black screen like it turned off but did'nt.....blue power button light is still on? Everything is running but no picture.....keeps happening everytime...

this old monitor has 2 issues.
1: it has CCFL tubes that love to burn out (backlamps)
most this old are long go, yell, dim.,blinking or DEAD.
2: push the menu button on front of mon. turn off power saver.

3: if the PC goes to sleep, or hibernete mode (parked)
then that is 100% normal
if you dont like feature then go to windows control panel
click power, ICON and turn off all monitor sleep /hibernate modes.

that assumes windows, no OS stated.

if the lamps are dead,
use flash light pointed to sceen, see data. ? bingo for bad CCFT tubes.
as seen here

Dual Monitors. #1 works fine. Plug inb #2 and #1 goes to sceeen saver and #2 stays blank.

Both monitors must be plugged in when the computer is started for the second monitor to be detected, and you must configure the second monitor once the computer has started
In windows XP: control panel -> display -> settings tab -> select second display -> check "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" -> click apply
In windows vista/7: control panel -> adjust screen resolution -> select second display and then under "multiple displays" select "Extend desktop to this display"

How to remove msn

I take it that you don't wish to use MSN for internet access. You can delete it from your network connections window.
Then you will have to set up a connection that will use either dial-up or some form of high-speed connection. That will become your default connection.

Blank monitor

Hi,
To resolve the problem,do the following step,
1. Power on the system
2. At dell logo screen before windows xp starts to load tap on the F8 key slowly 5 to 8 times
3. Select safe mode
4 Hit enter on the next screen and logon using the administrator or your name
5. Do the system restore, when you have logged on, this would return your system back to the date when it was working fine
6. To system restore
click start>all programs>accessories>system tools >system restore

X191w blank screen after 2 seconds

Just got off the phone with Acer Suppport. This was after I sent an email to them, that suggested that I call. 8-/ annoying. So the guy on the phone says there is one thing that we can do before sending it in. Unplug it completely for the wall and computer. Hold the on/off button in for 30 secs. reconnect power and the computer. It worked for me

SCREEN GOES BLANK

Hi.
I have have repaird a few monitors, the acer one was the back light, but it was I think 7 capacitors, they were old, aged, and stopping the light from working.
So, get it apart, and replace ALL the caps, they are not expensive, do not touch the parts when powered up, it is high voltage, and will probably hurt you whilst killing you, so, DONT TOUCH!
Check out web for any other help, lots of videos to show you how to proceed.

Blank after 2 seconds

This is most probably cause by one or more Faulty Electrolytic Capacitors, I find these are the MOST commonest form of "Fault" in these LCD's TFT's units. I ususally simply replace "On Spec" all High Value Electros, in fact ALL Electro's are suspect and often I just "Shotgun" and replace 'em all. Usually fixes all problems. Always use High Temperature Caps.
