If you can get into the card menu then you have the right software, but it sounds like severe instability like a fake card would have. Try the R4i SDHC. It's been proven to work better then the R4i Gold.

R4i gold not working on dslite

Hello Pmkfc,

Try the latest menu firmware from the manufacturer website. The R4i Gold, hasn't been the best card in awhile though. The cards made by the R4 SDHC team tend to be better. If you start running into compatibility issues I might get a new one.

If you're looking to get genuine cards for your ds (there are fakes out there), take a look here, http://www.dscardworld.com. I managed to find this site after I got burned at a few others. Loved having my emails responded to because I had loads of questions, and they were quick to ship it. US based support and shipping I believe.

R4i V1.4 with 8GB micro sdhc card

Hello Greg,

Are you buying all the cards from the same place? A REAL R4i SDHC should show an orange loading... text, not a red menu. It looks like you're getting bad clones. The official manufacturer website for the real and genuine R4i SDHC is www.r4i-sdhc.com, any variations on the packaging like www.r4-v.com are bad clones.

I have a dsi with an r4i card. was working fine, now it wont load with message saying system date error!please check nds system date. can anyone help?

Fastest way is to change your system date. I got an r5i rev. and got today the same prob. I put the card out set the system date to the 01,12,2000 and working again. Its the fastest way to solve but when the date comes again on it will do the same again. What i understand it has something to do with the 1.2v from kernel. I´m searching now for my one for the 1.18v kernel. What i read it has to work fine with that.

I have just bought a r4 SDHC for my sons ds and it just brings up the red menu? sign in the top screen

There are several different versions of software for the R4 cards. If your R4 card has 'R4i Upgrade' and 'V1.4' in a yellow star on the front or just 'R4 Upgrade' then download this software - http://de.r4i-sdhc.com/R4i%20English%20V1.14b.rar
If your R4 has 'R4i Upgrade' without the 'V1.4' yellow star then download this software - http://de.r4i-sdhc.com/R4i%20English%20V1.09b.rar
If you do not already have 'WinRar' installed then download and install it here - http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar391.exe
When you click the correct link above choose 'save' and save the file on your computer. When it has downloaded insert your R4's SD micro card into the USB adapter put it into your PC. Go to 'My Computer' and look for the SD card drive, probably called 'Removable Disk'. right click the drive and select 'Format'. Check the box to allow a quick format and wait for it to complete. After open the drive by double clicking it to display an empty window and then minimize it to the taskbar with the '-' command in the top right of the window. Next go to the location where you downloaded the software above, usually 'My Documents' or the 'Desktop' by default. Right click the file and select 'Extract Files...'. Click the SD drive you just formatted, i.e 'Removable Disk (E:)' to highlight it in blue and then click, 'OK'.
You may now copy your .nds game files to the SD card or insert it into your R4 cartridge and your DS.

Just purchased a nintendo dsi for my son. i have a sandisk 4gb SDHC card and i want to download games. How do i format the card for that?

You format the sd card to the card you have, if you have a r4i you format the card for a r4i, just go to linfoxdomain, look for the card you have, download the firmware for the card, if its a r4i gold or an r4i upgrade for example, download the firmware for it,unzip the files and put them on one by one, when you have done that, unzip the games files and then put them on the sd card, then start the dsi and open the games file.
