Panasonic NV-DS27EG problem: sudden degradation in function following (though could be coincidence) first ever use of DV-out socket on camera (to connect Dv-in on Panasonic DVD recorder). First symptom: no picture displayed when attempting to play back a tape in VCR mode. Second symptom: power light stayed on even when camera switch was at the off position. Third symptom: message in viewfinder asking for the reset button to be pressed. Found and pressed reset button then: Fourth symptom: "to service" appeared in viewfinder. Manual is not much help...are there any realistic service options, or it it just fried? What did I do wrong? Thanks.

SOURCE: No image during recording -- sharp mini dv VL-NZ50

This problem can certainly be fixed and is not that expensive : the no image in capture mode when you can playback is caused by faulty CCD sensor and you might even have it done free of charge because it is often a faulty sensor that goes in your camera during manufacture. Sony in particular repairs these faults free of charge, but others do too.

SOURCE: sharp dv-rw260h vcr/dvd combi

The tape drive and head cylinder motors are having trouble synchronizing close enough to allow the manual tracking to work. Does it work on prerecorded tapes?
Could be:
Too much drag from the tensioning gizmo. (fixable)
Dirty tape path (fixable)
Damaged tape (does it have a crease along one edge?
dragging motor (not usually fixable)
Hope Ya Fix It!

SOURCE: copy from camera to computer

Do you have a video/tuner card that can receive a video input? With ** av in, or firewire on your computer, you can't without purchasing additional hardware.
