Here's how I fixed the damn headset thang on my Nokia.
Take out the SIM card and start the phone *WITHOUT* the SIM card.
Wait until the phone's screen says, "insert SIM card."
Wait a minute, then re-insert the SIM card, and re-start the phone.
Voila, the horrid headset symbol is gone (I hope).
Do it a few times if it doesn't take the first time (although, it did on mine).
Hope this works for you, because hell, that headset setting is a real beyatch when you *don't* want it. ;)
Hi,
Try restarting the phone. This should get rid of it. If restarting doesn't work, turn it off and take the battery out for a few minutes then put back and turn on.
Tried all the mentioned, except the demolition method. No good.
How I solved the problem:
Turned off the phone, took out the battery and the SIM card from the phone, and then inserted another SIM card. That's basically the idea.
Then I put back the battery. Turned on the phone with the alien card inserted, and there was no problem anymore.
Except that it wasn't my SIM card.
So I did the procedure again, placing back the original SIM card. After starting the phone again, there was no problem.
Hope it'll work for you other guys too, godspeed ! :)
I saw this suggestion for another nokia model and this worked!
1.Turn off your phone..
2.Press and hold three keys, i.e. Green Button(call answer key) + " * " button + " 3 " button and while holding the buttons boot the phone.. ANY three keys
3.Hold till the phone shows the Nokia Logo/formatting screen..
..
What looks like a head set icon is actually the voice mail icon if you look on page 40 of the users guide it shows it. I don't know why they have that, but I got rid of it buy going to AT&T's web site you will have to log in then look for technical support chat tell them what's up and they will just send a signal or something and the icon will go away. Or just call and they can do it that way. You will have to look around to find the chat here's the address http://www.wireless.att.com/support/chatLanding.do then select voice mail and chat with customer support.
Let me know if this works
My idea
1. Turn off the phone
2. Take the battery out
3. Take the SIM card out
4. Insert other SIM Card and battery
5. Restart the phone again
6. Turn off the phone again
7. Insert your SIM Card in
8. Turn on... it wil be work
It's workable. try it!!

SOURCE: headset
try to goto Settings > Enhancements > and see the settings from there
go in Loopset > and if it is switched on, switch it off and try if the phone works as normal..

Yes, I have it and I do not know how to solve it!!!!
I have the same problem! I tried turning it off, I took the battery out and I restored factory settings. It only wiped out alot of my phone numbers and music files but did not remove the icon or allow me to call.
I have a headset icon on the Nokia 6085. Â There is of course no description of this icon in the user manuel. Â The only way to hear sound is through loud speaker. Â Turning phone off, resetting phone and removing card did not help. Â this is hands down the absolute worst phone on the market. Â No wonder why Nokia is doing so poorly. Â Their product stinks.
Little headphone icon is on my phone and when I call someone I can't hear them! I know it's a volume icon, but is the only one NOT listed in the manual. I'm taking my phone into my att store and demanding a different one!
Same problem... none of the solutions worked....
