Just open the top cover of the printer, there will be 4 cartridges on the right side. they are locked in, all you have to do is release the little latch and pull out the cartridge, then replace it. I have the book, to that printer, but my printer is tour-up. Had to buy another one. Hope this help.

I have the owner manual but it doesn't help. it only tell you so much. they want you to send the machine in. My warrenty has exspired on mine, so i'm going to trash it. I had to buy another one, wonder how long that one will last. email me and I will scan and fax some pages.

Have you tried another regular phone on the same jack? There is a small LIU board in the fax that the phone line plugs into and it is possibly bad. Inexpensive board from Brother. Buy a whole unit from EBAY cheaply.

Plug the fax phone cord into the LINE port of the machine. The rest is automatic.
