When was the last time that you used the bread machine? If it has been in storage for a period of time, it is likely that the element has absorbed moisture. As soon as it starts baking, the element goes into action, and because it's "leaking to earth" the machine will trip your circuit breaker.

I recommend taking the machine to your local Breville Service Centre (locate via http://www.breville.com.au/care_agentsearch.asp) as the machine is still quite repairable. If the Service Centre is unable to dry out your element though the elements are no longer repairable.

Good luck!

I just fixed my bread maker which was doing the same thing ... basically was going through its process cycle until it came time to switch the heating element on, as soon as the relay switched to power the element bang goes the house electrics... thanks RCD... OK to cure this problem I got out my multi meter and checker between the element and ground (the case) UNPLUGGED AT THIS POINT, I was getting way too high a reading so had a look at what could cause this, noted there was a clip that was screwed to the case via an isolating block on one side of the case to support the element within the oven cavity as it were, looking more closely I noted that only one side of this bracket went to earth. I decided to strip the unit down to allow access to the reverse of this clip/bracket. Once done I removed the screw that secured the isolating block and bracket and removed that too... although the element was loose within the cavity I switched it on to bake (heating element on) NO TRIPPING this time, so my cure was found now to reconfigure the bracket and have a good look at how to support the element and noted that one side of the clip that goes over the element went to earth via a screw through the case, all I did to cure this problem was to cut the spring steel clip that goes around the element to more of a P shape, and mounted the clip so that it was not connected to earth via the screw on the case side of the bracket isolator block but on the isolated side of the block. This allowed for support of the element whilst not allowing the element to come into contact with the earth via the case screw on the isolator block... hey presto one working bread maker again..... ONLY DO THIS WORK IF YOU ARE COMPITENT TO DO SO, ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE UNIT IS UNPLUGGED BEFORE ANY WORK COMENSES. YOU CARRY THIS OUT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I suspect this to be the fault with most bread makers of this design.

Breville you brew auto start not working

There is an error in the manual. Following the directions will, as you discovered, start brewing immediately.

To complete the auto-start programming, in step 8 of "Programming Auto-Start" you should NOT "press the PROGRAM button."

Instead, as soon as you have set the desired minute of the Start Time (step 7 in the manual), press the START / CANCEL button.

The LCD screen will then dim and display 'PROGRAM ON' to indicate that the Auto-Start feature has been successfully turned on.

Hope this helps.

West Bend Bread Maker model 41056 does not start. When machine is plugged in, LED displays a time but buttons do not work and red light does not go on. (Pan was in machine and anchored.)

Power-Up/Start-Up Issues:

  1. Unplug the breadmaker.
  2. Confirm the power source you're drawing from is live using a blender, toaster, etc.
  3. Plug the breadmaker in, unplug it, then plug it in a second time.

    1. Some models have a built-in off/on toggle power switch. Be sure it's turned on.
    2. Most models confirm power by making an audible beep when plugged in.
    3. Most models have a colored light and/or a lighted display screen that lights up.
    4. Most models require you press down on the Stop button until the unit powers up.

E. Some models require you press down on the Start button until the unit powers up.

F. Some models require you press down on the Select button until the unit powers up.

G. Many models require you select a baking mode by pressing the Select button before the pressing the Start button.

Q: In the end, were you able to confirm your breadmaker is receiving power?

No. Sorry to hear that. Have it serviced by a small appliance repair shop or simply discard it.

Yes. Fantastic! Now reboot the electronics by pressing down on the Stop button for 1 to 5 seconds. Note: A few models require you press down on the Start button instead. And even fewer require you press down on the Select button instead.

Often the + and - Delay Timer buttons are pressed by mistake, delaying Start by up to 12 hours. If you suspect this handy feature has been engaged accidentally, you'll need to reboot the breadmaker's electronics. See reboot directions above.

Note: All breadmakers use a belt and pulley system. If your breadmaker powers-up but the mixer won't turn during the kneading cycles, your timing belt is probably broken. You'll need to disassemble the breadmaker to visually confirm. The belt and pulley assemblies are located at the bottom of your breadmaker.

Ive got a Salton SB 846 bread machine, that i had plenty of breadbaking pleasure.Suddenly the machine trips the main power supply when it is switched on??I have checked each and every wire connection. Can it...

You may want to try plugging in your breadmaker somewhere else in your house that is in a different area and start a program. If you have a bake stage choose that because it will pull lots of power. For example instead of plugging it in a kitchen outlet take into your garage or bathroom and turn it on there. If you still are tripping fuses then the problem is with your bread maker. If it doesn't trip the fuse or main doing that then email then you probably have too many applicances pulling power in your kitchen line that the bread machine was on. Need plastic timing belt drive pulley for Breville BB 380

I may have a machine you can use for parts. I have a BB380 which mixes the dough OK but trips the electrical core balance switch in the house when it goes to bake - so I was taking the pan out and bakeing it in the gas oven. But I got tired of resetting all the electric clocks in the house and bought a new machine. Would this be of assistance?
