Pass keys are used on wireless networks to keep your neighbors from using your network. which ever computer you set up the wireless router with go into the software and remove the requirement for the pass key. should be in properties or settings or security. good luck

Log into your router's web interface, if possible through a computer connected to the router by cable, by starting an internet browser and navigatng to its maintenance IP address, usually set by many manufacturers to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. An authentication request will come up. As you haven't speciffied your router model, there are routers whose both user name and password fields are set to 'admin'. Other routers use 'admin' as user name only, requiring the password field to be left empty. Once you get into the router's web interface, go to the wireless settings, and change the wireless passphrase to a new one of your choice. Make sure to change the other devices, which use to connect to the router, to the same new passphrase.
If you need further details, please, provide your router model and manufacturer.
Hope you are able to sort your problems out.
Regards, Carlos

When i swicth on my lap top then my lap top hangd waht can i do

reboot while pressing ,which should send you into ROM BIOS SETUP.
Note that "" is the single key on your keyboard labeled F2, and may reside above the "2" key.

Execute any/all diagnostics you find, then, if it passes, try to boot into Windows SAFE MODE,
then if that works, let the system boot into full Windows.

I have a D-link wireless router and I can't get my lap top to find the wireless network? Can you help me get it working? My lap top is saying that I need to turn on my wireless capability and I don't know...

Check your laptops manual. There will be a switch on your laptop that will allow you to turn your wireless card on and off. Depending on the model of your laptop there will either be a function key combination or a slider switch. If you need more help then please post the make and model of your laptop with any followup questions you may have.

My son went onto my lap top and changed my secure network password for my wireless internet. how do i reset this so i can connect onto the wireless internet with my lap top?

on the back there should be a reset button. It is small and recessed so you will need to use the tip of a paperclip or something similar to press it. Hold this button for 10 seconds with the power to the device ON to restore it to factory defaults. Passwords and such will be located in the user manual which may be available for download from the manufacturer's website.

My lap top will not accept the 12 digit pass key from the router. Lap top response is that it should be a 13 digit pass key!!

I don't know what system you have on your laptop, but there are many stupid WLAN management applications that come with various equipment, while Windows has a good WLAN management system built in. Try to turn off this "i-know-better" application, usually by going to Networking, choosing the wireless network and checking an option "let Windows manage wireless networks".

Acer Aspire 5100 won't connect to secure Verizon Mifi 2200

Hello

Three things cause this in VISTA. First the laptop's MAC address is being rejected by the secure network. In which case you'll need to find out why from the administrator of the secured network. Second, when you first took your laptop to a local coffee shop did you select HOME or WORK network. VISTA has a problem in that if you selected WORK and you then go to your HOME network it won't stop seeing the WORK selection. The only cure I've come accross is to do a SFC/scanow at the CMD prompt. The third cause is a virus. Although VISTA doesn't get many viruses, when it does they cause outstanding problems. Download AVGFREE, MALWARE BYTES and SUPERANTISPYWARE. They all work in VISTA and you'll be surprise what they find.

go to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 login as admin. there is no password, along the top you should see something like an administrator tab or something, play around inside there and set it up.

Wireless internet access

Mandy,
The password is a WPA Shared Key. The secret key will be shown in your routers security or advanced or network configuration page.......if you forgot the key then the best alternative will be to reset the router
you could simply create a new WPA-PSK and then setup each machine again that needs wireless access to your network.
