Colby is out of business so getting a remote for their gear will be next to impossible. Universal remotes only have limited functionality and will only work on a bare minimum of functions. If that is no good then your best bet is to see if you can find one on ebay or a remote for another Colby unit of around same vintage since remote frequencies have tendency to remain same among similar models.

There are 2 types: on top of carb type, and, remote with 2 nipples type. Both are really inexpensive. Many online vendors like partstree.com, outdoor distributors etc. have them. You will pay MORE for the 7.95 shipping charge than the bulb costs. I use Ebay to find many parts at low, low prices and many sellers ship FREE. IF you don't go to a small engine shop for your parts, then Ebay is your next best bet. If you order online, minimum shipping charges will kill you.Become a member of Ebay ....you will be very glad you did!

Unless you know what you are doing, don't replace this yourself. Figure you are likely to spend $100 per CRT x3 or $300 minimum that is just to buy them. Very time consuming to install and re-align.

Usually this kind of problem occurs if there is and internal fault with either a component on the board or the internal amp has died.
To confirm the subwoofer is at fault and nothing connected ais causing it to malfunction, disconnect everything from the back of the subwoofer. You should now be left with just the sub connected to the mains.
Now turn on the sub with the volume on minimum. If it still goes into protection, there is an internal electronics fault. if it's ok, you need to reconnect everything checking all pollarities are correct.
A repair could cost £25 upwards depending on the problem.
Your best bet may be to sell it for spares or repairs on ebay and replace it with the money you get.
