Is it possible to replace the batteries in a 12v makita battery pack

I use a system of 2 parallel 3-cell lithium 17850 - a millimeter thinner version of the laptop cell. rebuild the contact set with epoxy holding the contacts to the holder head . solder . rebuild a charger to charge to 12.6 volts (or less, no lower than 3.8v per cell), - one could use the two other contacts as connections to 'balance' the three 4.2v sets. or just hook up to a source with magnets, etc. stuff foam in open spaces.

Unfortunately there are no repairable parts in a battery. Once a battery is dead it's usually best to find a good recycling center for it, most The Home Depot's have one. Makita lists battery 1234 (Part #193157-5) for this tool but it's the old Ni-MH battery. I'd use battery 1222 (Part #192598-2), it's the better Ni-Cd battery.

THey are flat metal springs inside the drills Battery hole.

Yes, I agree with Wylie Johnson. You should replace a new 9000 battery for youe drill. I found the capacity of your orignal battery is only 1.3Ah. You can get a 3Ah makita 9000 battery. It can last longer in your work.

Switch and bateries

Makita makes two 12V Ni-Cad pod batteries: Battery 1222/2.0Ah (PN: 192598-2) and Battery 1220/1.3Ah (PN: 192681-5). Makita's universal charger (PN: DC1804) will charge any Ni-MH or Ni-Cad pod or stick battery from 7.2V to 18V.
