The Jenn Air refrigerator (model #JCB2059GES) did the same thing about a month ago and the refrigerator and freezer both quit working, ruining the food. The repairman arrived, thought the compressor was going bad but wasn't sure since the unit started working again. He did not replace the compressor but told me to call him the next time it happened.
Well, I went away for three days this past week and returned to find the freezer had quit will I was gone (the ice had melted and refroze) but the refrigerator compartment seems to have kept working properly. Several hundred dollars worth of meat from the freezer went into the trash.
Prior to my departure, the unit was making the buzzing noise again but there was nothing I could do but hope that, while I was gone, the unit would not fail. Needless to say, it failed!
Right now the unit is working fine. The problem is I just can't trust it. The repairman told me to call him the next time it starts making that buzzing noise. That will work if I am at home to alert him, but that's not exactly practical all the time. I travel quite a bit.
This is getting expensive and frustrating. I have written Jenn Air about it hoping they can shed some light on the issue.
