Hello John;
You can ground both the antenna mast and the antenna. your best bet is to place an 8ft grounding rod in the ground from radio shack or local two-way radio shop. Then connect the grounding rod to your mast. You can get a polyphaser from your local two-way radio shop this will connect between your antenna and the radio. it will also be grounded to the grounding rod. This should leave you in pretty good shape.

Happy DXing

How do you have it installed? in a vehicle? or in a building. What power supply configuration are you using? Is it adequately earthed/grounded? What type of antennas do you have? waiting for your info :)

Open your radio and, with a small flathead plastic screwdriver, adjust T713. Any other questions feel free to ask.

Cobra 200 GTL DX 3rd edition Installation

Hello John. A good earth ground for your antenna is more important than for the radio. Using the closest possible point to the antenna pole, preferably within a couple of feet, you need to ground the antenna pole to the earth. Go to a hardware store and buy a copper grounding rod which will be eight foot long and buy, as little as you can possibly get away with, some of 10 gauge wire and some kind of clamps that will attach the wire to the antenna pole and to the grounding rod. Google "antenna earth grounding" may help also.

Cobra 200

Hello Jim. These radios do not work well with any power mic including the power echo mics because they have good modulation boards in them. But if you still want to try then check http://www.cbtricks.com/radios/cobra/200gtl_dx/index.htm

Could the battery be dead? Other than that, it may be a bad solder joint inside the mic.
