If youve acess below the filter screen ther is only 2 more screws holding down 2 more covers giving you acess to the chopper assy, this is where youll find broken glass and stuff hitting against hte chopper try to break up.. the first of 2 covers lifts right off,,, the second will require sorta prying up and off, beyond this no real acess to any more

Dirty dishes and funky smells are a sure sign of a partially blocked dishwasher drain. Start at the sink connection and clean every component and port of the drain all the way back to the pump assembly. Pull off hoses.. clean holes and make sure to dis-assemble and clean the air-gap if you have one. The garbage disposal port being obstructed is one of the biggest reasons for a poor drain performance.. however the Air-gap having particulate in the top of it is the #1 reason for dishwasher dranage problems.
If you still have the dirty / cloudy glassware after making sure that ALL of the external drain connections and tubing are clear in addition to checking for hose kinks:
Remove the lower wash arm and wash arm tower to check the sump for obstructions. Reach all the way to the pump inlet and remove any foreign debris. Some units have 2 impellers depending upon model number. ANY impellers must be intact and the pump body can not have any broken housing pieces. If the housing is broken the only remedy is pump motor replacement.
Since you did not include a model number this is a generic response that is applicable to the majority of dishwashers in use today.

Hello; the VERY first thing I'd check, which is the most common cause for this problem, is plugged sprays. The spray nozzles are usually easily removed for cleaning. Often, you can see debris that is stuck in the spray holes partially protruding. Be careful when pushing it back through the holes, often there are bits of broken glass in it. NEVER PULL the debris OUT, which would enlarge the hole, and misalign the spraying action. Push the debris back IN, then remove it through the connection port by shaking it. Spread a paper towel over the area where you do this to catch the debris, again being careful of the glass.
A good way to find out if you have removed all this stuff, which includes old food particles, plastic, etc., is to sharply rap the spray against a padded object, then shake and listen for rattling. When this procedure doesn't produce a rattling noise after several "raps" the spray is probably clean. Cleaning these nozzles once in a while, even before you notice a problem, is a good idea, as it improves the efficiency of the dishwasher.
Good luck!

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. Water flow problems are what cause streaks, silt or cloudy dishes. The water flow problems can be caused by several things: 1. Clogged spray arm holes (Clean wash arms upper and lower)
2. Sump inlets that are blocked with debris or plastic (Clean inlets)
Most probable cause.... follows: 3. POOR DRAIN FUNCTION ( a. Inspect all parts of the drain going backward from the sink connection 1) The sink connection is usually at the side of garbage disposal. Remove the hose from the actual sink connection and clean out the port. 2) The AIR-GAP is the where 75% of the drain restrictions manifest. Lift off the Air-Gap cover then unscrew the inner cap nut NOTING the installed position of the inner cap because you can only install it ONE WAY. Lift off the cap and remove an debris inside. Use a flashlight and inspect for any debris deep inside the Air Gap, 3) Inspect the Drain hose from the Air Gap to the Dishwasher drain hose connection for any kinks or folds. If you note wither a kink or a fold take a stick over the outside of the hose like you were putting on a splint. 4) Remove the drain hose from the dishwasher connection and inspect for debris. Clean as necessary. Just note there is power under the dishwasher that can reach out and grab you so make sure the power is off before working under the dishwasher. 5) Re-assemble the dishwasher drain system
4. If after doing all of the above you sill have the streaks you will have to remove the lower wash arm and support to inspect / clean out any debris. DO NOT remove the motor and pump mounting screws. Only the lower wash arm support. Also as soon as you loosen the lower wash arm, note how it goes back together.... these can be a real difficult puzzle!
A dishwasher's water inlet valve is its most common part to fail. When
your dishes are not being fully cleaned, quite often a faulty water
inlet valve is to blame. Test your dishwasher's water inlet valve, and
if it is no longer functioning as it should, you will have to replace
it.
Water temperature is a key element in achieving clean dishes. A
dishwasher's heating element is not designed to heat the water that
enters it. Rather, the heating element is designed to maintain the heat
of the water that enters the dishwasher. Its a good idea to run the hot
water in your sink for a couple of minutes before you run the
dishwasher. Just to make sure the water is nice and hot before it enters
the dishwasher. If the water is unable to stay hot, it can adversely
affect your dishwasher's cleaning ability.
There is a filter in your dishwasher. Its function is to keep large
particles of food and foreign objects away from the pump. Many of the
newly-manufactured dishwashers have self-cleaning filters, and routine
cleaning isn't a concern. However, some other dishwashers need to have
the filter removed and cleaned regularly. If the filter or grate is
clogged or blocked with debris, it may interfere with the normal
functioning of your dishwasher

Most likely broken glass or some other solid debris in the drain pump.Check owners manual to find out how to clean sump ,watch out for shards of glass.
Try this before you decide your dishwasher is broken:
Go buy a box of brand name Dishwasher powder (e.g. Electrosol or Cascade) and use it. Re-evaluate after 2 loads of dishes. If problems continue, keep using the brand name powder but also:
With a screw driver. remove the filter shroud beneath the lower spray arm as far as possible (take pictures as you go) and rinse everything, including anything that looks like a mesh filter. Also, inspect all wash arms for blockages of any holes and clean them.
With a flashlight, find and remove all debris (watch out for broken glass!) Inspect the impeller for problems or not being tightly secured. Reassemble.
Test out. If problems continue and your dishes have a film on them, suspect that you heating element has failed. Replacing it will work wonders!
If problems continue, the problem is most likely a failing wash pump motor. If you replace it, your on you way.
If you remove the filter in the sump area underneath the lower dish rack (removing the screws to do so) you may find debris blocking/jaming the impeller area. Be very careful of almist invisible broken glass. Inspect the impeller to make sure it is properly in place and not damaged.
Confirm that the spray arms are not pluged.
If problems continue and the impeller is in good shape, the pump motor may be failing. Please get back to me if problems persist but also include the Make and Model number whe nyou do.
