Question about Carrier 38CKC030 Air Conditioner

38cks is blowing air but it's not cooling

I checked the unit outside and the fan is working, there is ice on one of the two pipes, but the pipe that usually has condensation is dry as a bone.

First thing, are the filters clean? If so then you have lost some gas from the system and need to find and repair the leak, and put in correct gas charge.

System needs to be thawed out, so turn it off before something else breaks, cause pipes are probably plugged and stopping any movement inside the system, Try using a blow dryer on high heat to help with the thaw out of the pipes with the ice build-up , then leave it off for a couple of hours and then try to turn it on again see if the unit in the house is running or blowing cold air again. Turn it on HIGH...!!!!

Unfortunately, the ice coating isn't normal, in fact, it is an indication that your unit is low on freon or a blockage. But could also mean a few other things.

But about the only thing you can do yourself is make sure that the fan is turning or not.

If there is no cooling (meaning no cold pipes and not blowing cold air) then check the outdoor A/C for any visible/obvious issues; breakers not tripped, no debris blocking the outside unit from passing air through it, etc. If all looks ok, you can start checking some things inside of the unit if you feel comfortable doing so. Also, most indoor heaters have a higher speed/rpm for the fan when the cooling kicks on, and the heat runs on a lower speed/rpm.

Call back who ever fixed the leak, you still have one.
After fixing the leak make sure the drier is changed, system evacuated to at least 500 microns, then do a standing test. Meaning let the unit stand with the micron gauge connected. The unit should hold a vacuum. A slow rise indicates moisture, whereas a rapid rise indicates a leak.

Make sure the outdoor fan is running and check your air filters. Also make sure the indoor and outdoor coils are clean. If all is good then get the refrigerant charge checked.

Our air conditioner seems to be working fine yet t won't blow cold air. Its just room temp air actually feels like you're standing in front of a small fan.
check outside unit large pipe should be cool or even very cold small pipe should be warm to touch that will eliminate some questions in order to solve problem also check circuit breaker for outdoor unit see if fan on outdooor unit is running and listen for compressor hum

I have goodman 13 seer/ I have power going into the unit and it will not pull in the contact and when i push in the contact the fan will run but not blow in the house and both cooper pipes on the outside...
check power on the 24 volt coil of the contact pushing in the contactor will not make youre blower in the house run only start the compressor and condensing fan on the outside unit. if u do not have 24 volts on the coil of the contactor that could mean a few things high or low pressure switch is open. which this sounds like the problem because you stated the unit starts but both (copper) pipes stay warm this may be cause by no freon in the system. see normally if you push that contactor in when the indoor fan not running u will get really cold big pipe thats called the suction line. check if you have voltage on the coil when unit is calling for cooling if not look at the schematic and ohm the pressure switces if there are any

The unit is not cooling. have noticed ice on the line in the unit outside.
if one or few pipe may not aproblem may be the thermostat is aet to very low cool anf the fan on low speed or the thermostat is defective also if this icing is growing up means
-1 evaporator need cleaning
- 2 a smll freon leakage

Yes, if the filters are clean, the coils are clean, and it is still freezing up in cooling mode, then it is low on refridgerant.

I have a Carrier thermostat model TB-NHP01 and just installed it. Went to change the temperature and the screen went blank and stays blank. Bought this one to replace previous one which had the same Screen is blank, buttons seem to do nothing. Furnace, however, does continue to run - you just can't change the temp. It appropriately cycles on and off. This new thermostat is non returnable so can someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks!
