SOURCE: Tv showing blue screen with flyback lines sound ok

Flyback lines? Is the picture all white with no brightness control with faint horizontal faint lines? If this is what you are saying, the screen voltage could be bad, and if thats the case, the picture tube or the flyback itself could be bad. You could also have a bad connection on the crt socket

I have a phillips 42fd9954 17s. when i turn it on the green light tuns on for like 6 seconds then fades . then nothing. no sound no picture. any idea. i am using a comp cord. had no cord when i got it

if you use vga input and there is no signal the tv shuts down in few second. It will wake up again if you provide vga signal or cycle it on off again. Change input to component or s-video and tv should stay on. On the other hand, this model has known problem with bad power supply unit but usually red light flashing when tv shuts down in that case.

We have an older Phillips Magnavox tv. The tv will turn on & we will see the picture for a short time but then the screen turns grey. We still have sound, just no picture. Also, the green power light...

Hello, the grey screen could be due to a missing 220Volt source which feeds the color (RBG cathodes)inside the CRT(picture tube). When this happens the beam current inside the CRT goes high in a matter of second, thus triggering the beam current protection circuit(blinking green light)shutting down the TV. Repairing the secondary voltage source is necessary to get the TV working normal, a good technician should be able to repair it for between 80 to 100 dollars parts included, except a picture tube, which could be also the cause of the problem(K-A shorts).

Philips tv with sound going in and out

Try bypassing the set's speaker by running an external audio amp. I use my bookcase stereo for audio direct from the satellite receiver and turn the volume off on the TV. Sounds better this way! Could be the audio amp in the TV is going bad or the speaker may be bad and the TV's audio amp goes through a shut down cycle.

I have a 9p5511c the picture is blurry before that the tv would make a snapping sound the picture would fade out for a second then fade back in but never lost the sound

You have a high voltage leak, one of the three crt's are arching to the metal chassis, this will cause momentary high voltage loss so your picture will fade until the voltage builds back up again.

Repairing this is hazardous because the voltage in the crt's are around 30,000 volts even with the tv unplugged. I don't suggest doing this yourself.

A technician will do the following he will attempt to stop the leak with specially formulated silicone compounds, If this fails the only alternative is to replace the picture tube that is defective.

The cost of repair depends on if the tube will have to be replaced, the initial repair using silicone should not run more than the standard service call rate for the company servicing the unit. If it is picture tube the cost could be upwards of $400.00

TV picture fades, then shuts off

There are some components in the scan amplifiers, and or the power supply area that have become unstable. This can happen with age and use. It is impossible to make an accurate assessment without actually troubleshooting the set.

You need an experienced TV service tech that is strong on troubleshooting, has the service manuals, and has the proper set-up to work on your set. I would recommend the factory service rather than an independent service tech unless you know for sure that the independent service tech can handle this type of repair.

Considering the age of the model of set that you have, I would be looking at replacing it rather than fixing it. Because of the age of the set the reliability will be decreased.
