Fridge stopped working/ freezer still works great?

pull the unit from the wall, remove the bottom back panel , see if the small fan is working ,if the fan is , there's probally alot of dust back there,unplug the fridg. and vacuum the area real good,use a flash light to make sure you get it all, if the fan is not working and the compressor is running the fan is the problem ,the fan keeps the compressor and coils cool so the freon can cool down so the unit works like it should,if the freon is hot ,the air the fridg.will be blowing will be hot. this should fix your problem, and YES its worth fixing.alittle p.m.saves alot of $$$$$$$$$

there is really nothing You personally can do to fix it, oyu will have to call a serviceman, i reccommend sears. It is a internal circuit or wire that probably blew and needs to really be fixed by a professional.

you might have a bad freezer heating element,or bad defrost timer or badheater on off terminnator

there is a chance that the evaporator fan motor has stopped working and will not move the air to the fride compartment. turn the settings switch to 6 and the unit should come on.have the freezer door open and you should here the fan turning if you do not here this replace the fan motor if you here the fan the you have a defrost timer issue and there is alot of frost built up on the evaporator.any other question you can email me at [email protected]

defrost timer probably failed in defrost mode go online search for defrost timer location and manually advancing or initiating a defrost cycle , it may pop into run mode and tell you thats what it is , 90% of the time thats it and they are cheap !

does it freeze at all? you may have a problem with the coolent in the back of the fride which if so (depending on the cost of the fride) may be cheaper to replace, also the dial you use for selecting the freeze level could be faulty

Most of f&p make this noise its most annoying, but could also be ice buildup on the fan blades, creaking and cracking is normal as the pipes expand and contract is these thin foamwall fridges, not nice fridges, insulation has been compromised to lower cost, they work twice as hard at keeping cool
