Quality marks on a HP wide format

Ck to see if the "spittoon" is full. This is the box on one end (depending on model, that the plotter uses to clean the print head nozzles.

The newer plotters use pigmented ink which builds up in the "spittoon" and forms what looks like a small mountain of gunk. When the carriage assy passes over this, it picks up a little bit on the print head and bottom of the carriage assy and lays it down on the paper.

You can remove and clean the "spittoon" but it is a real mess and replacements are not very expensive. Remember to clean the bottoms of the print heads and carriage assy when you perform this repair.

How to replace head catridges.

Instructions
  1. Make sure the printer is on, or press the "Power" button to turn it on. Wait for the printer to finish any warm-up diagnostics or print jobs it is performing.
  2. Open the access cover to the print heads. This cover may be the top cover, the front door or an ink access door on the front of the printer.
  3. Wait for the cartridge carriage to stop moving, making sure it is completely stationary before putting your hand in the printer. Lift up any clips or latches keeping the print heads or cartridges in place.
  4. Remove the old print head or ink cartridge if it is part of the cartridge, and discard it. Remove the packaging from the new print head, making sure to peel off any protective tape or twist-off protective caps.
  5. Insert the new print head or cartridge into the empty slot. Lower any clips or latches and make sure the print head or cartridge does not wiggle in its spot, otherwise you need to pull it out and reinsert it into the printer.
  6. Close the cover you opened to access the print heads and wait for the printer to calibrate the new print heads. Some printers may produce an alignment page, which you can throw away.

I960 resume light flashes yellow 5 times 1 green

Five yellow flashes indicate that the printer doesn't recognize the print head, or thinks that the wrong print head is installed. You can try to remedy this by opening the cover, removing the ink tanks, then removing the print head (lift the locking lever). Check that the copper contacts on the back of the print head are clean, then reinsert the print head, lock it in, and reinstall the ink tanks. If you still have the error indication, the print head may be bad and need replacing. Contact Canon for your options on this.

How do you change a printhead on a canon ip4200

raise the lock lever (at the top of the print head .. lift out the print head .. remove the covers from the new head and place where the old one came out .. it will be at a slight tilt .. then close the lock lever (pull down until it latches) .. replace the ink carts in the new head as soon as possible before they dry out .. do a print head cleaning .. then do a nozzle check ..

usually the old print head just has clogged nozzles .. there is a utility under "devies and printers" .. "ip4200" .. "adjust print options".. that will allow you to clean and test the heads ..

the new print head is about $58 .. so its expensive to do unless you are sure yours is bad .. the print heads usually stay healthy if you do the following
1. print something .. color and black at least every week or so ..
2. dont let ink run out completely
3. never unplug the printer without first turning it off .. wait until the heads are parked ..
4. in case of a power failure while the printer is being used .. then power it back up as soon as possible to park the heads (that seals them so they dont dry out)

a complete user manual is available from canon if you need one ..

Epson 9600 print head missing numerous nozzels during test print procedure. Tried power clean several times. Do you have a remedy?

You willl probably need to clean the Pump Cap Assy.

You will need a strong flashlight/clip-on lamp to see what you are doing up in the area you are cleaning.

Move the print head to the left side of 9600. (If you need help with this let me know.)

Use a foam tipped swab slightly dampened with warm water to GENTLY wipe around the seal area of the Pump Cap Assy.

DO NOT USE A COTTON TIPPED SWAB !!!

Dip, Blot, & Wipe. Clean the Foam Swab often to wash off the residue it will pick up. Remenber to keep the swab slightly moist - not dripping wet.
---
If this does't help, it generally means that the Print Head is also very clogged with gummy/dried ink.

The Print Head cannot be cleaned without removing the Right Side Cover & then removing the Pump Cap Assy. This removing and cleaning is about a 1.5hr-2hr job for an experienced tech. Anyone with moderate mechanical skills can do it though.

Pump Cap Assy cleaning is usually done BEFORE replacing the Print Head.

If the Print Head cleaning doesn't work then a New Print Head is in order.

Hope this helps ! Good Luck !

Scanner locked.

Normally that is an issue with the ribbon cable from the scanner to the main board if the latch is in the correct position.
I would securely reseat that cable, bias it somewhat upward.
Check the ends of that ribbon cable to be sure a portion of the silver print isnt pealed back.
No reset code for that. The scanner may have failed also. The sensor inside the scanner may be bad.
You can try going to the Xerox.com site under drivers and downloads and load the newest firmware. But I doubt that is an issue.
Only other thing i could think of would be the scanner not returning to the full home position due to an obstruction.
Or the scan head itself being out of the rail latch, or even the end of the scan head could be broken, not scanning straight.
