The flow of water, especially to the steam arm isn't working properly and seems to be very slow. It also seems to be effecting the flow of the water to make the coffee. We were wondering if maybe an air bubble is in the pipe? Or maybe limescale? Could this cause this problem and if so how do we fix it?

If the scale is thick it will actually come off in flakes and repeated disassembly and cleanout of the rotating arms & spray heads will be required. Check for a worn bushing washer on the lower arm. Also, make sure the arms are clean inside - they are propelled by reaction from the water jets spraying out, and clogs will prevent proper water flow through the jet orifices. Sometimes food debris will get through the pump and cause this problem. The diverter valve may also have trash inside clogging it and keeping from seating properly - this could account for both low pressure at the spray arm and water coming out of the lower rack when it should not.

Hello ddux97 - Often this occurs because either not enough water is being pumped to the spray arm or in other words the full flow of water is not making it to the upper spray arm. Will the spray arm rotate freely? If it does not, then you might have to remove or replace the spray arm assemblies since it is possibly damaged. Confirm that the drain hose is strapped up properly under the sink to prevent the water from siphoning out during the cycle. I would replace the drain pump if you are sure there are no obstructions to the water flow.

The steam function and the expresso use the same elements to create the steam but the valves will direct the steam to the expresso unit or the steam arm. Most likely you have a faulty valve. In most cases the valve will not open until the pressure gets to the right level. If you are just getting hot water out of the steam arm instead of steam via the expresso unit it most likely means that the valve is faulty. The valves can be replaced but is not easy. You will need to have the unit serviced or you could try to replace the valves. Make sure the flow meter is working before you replace the valves. You can check the operation of the flow meter by running the hot water cycle and making sure that you get the right amount of hot water. Good luck!

What you need to do is clean out the steam orifice. (The tiny hole the steam comes out) When water is turned to steam it leaves behind mineral deposits, (Iron, Calcium) Especially if you have "hard" water in your area. Here's what you do. Add some CLR, (Calcium,Lime Remover) to the water you put in the iron, let it sit a while, laying flat, then drain the water out. You want to get the nozzle, to, holding the iron upside down, try to immerse the steam nozzle for a couple of seconds in the CLR or drip some directly on it. You can buy this product in most stores. It works well and fast. Dip your showerhead in it too, you'll be suprised at how it improves water flow. It is safe as long as you follow the instructions.

We just had the very same issue and I went back to the product directions--we took things apart and thoroughly cleaned everything, especially each part of the sleeve. Once we put it back together we sat it next to the sink and ran it on steam with the water/steam going into the sink until it was running cleanly with a good steady flow. Fixed!! I'm so pleased because we love this machine...I'm totally addicted! Good luck.
