What does the lock with the 9 in it mean and how do I get it to go off?

t s64nds 352e the number lock is on. To remove it look for a key with 'Num Lock' on and press it. You may need to press the function (Fn or Func - depending on which laptop you have). The key is usually located at the top right hand side of the keyboard.

I CANNOT GET MY DELL LATITUDE D610 VOLUME TO WORK SINCE HAVING TO REINSTAL WINDOWS THERE IS NO VOLUME ICON AND NO NO VOLUME WHEN YOU PRESS THE VOLUME CONTROL

Go to "DeviceManager" and look if any yellow or red alerts are being displayed next to any device. Double click on that device and a window will pop opentelling you about the error. You can access the "Device Manager" bygoing to the 'Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "ComputerManagement" and select "Device Manager" located in the left sidecolumn, (assumption - laptop has Windows XP). If you need drivers, go to www.support.dell.com andselect "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have theproper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installedreturn to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag",(serial number) of the computer. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for everycustomer's computer they sell.

Dell Latitude D610 powering on but not reaching BIOS.

I did a check and the D600 series I am pretty sure is not capable of running Windows 7. Re install the original OS or a Linux and go to the Windows 7 RC page and run the compatibility tool.
