Smartlock code i have a phillip/magnavox tv and some channels are coming up blocked. i have turned off all of the "smartlock" settings and i have no channels blocked. how would i reset the tv for a code? it says please enter code. i never had this problem before and i had this tv for about 7 years. i dont think i still have the book. please help even my soaps get blocked sometimes!!!! Got a used TV from a friend and there are a number of channels that are blocked. The original owner does not remember the access code. Is there a method to master reset this SmartLock thing or is the TV a throwaway just because of this channel lock? What a waste!

Enter the override code, and enter it a second time if it says it is incorrect.
Once in the AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK menu, go to BLOCK, and push the "right arrow" key. Go to BLOCKING OPTIONS and press the "right arrow" key. Go to MASTER DISABLE and press the "right arrow" key so that it says "MASTER DISABLE ON". The v-chip is now reset.

Get a Magnavox (or Philips, same company) brand universal remote and try this. I found this info at a tech website, but I haven't tried it myself (never have used parental lock on any set), so I don't know if really a solution.

Philips sets use 0711 as the override code to defeat parent lock. You may need to enter the code twice if it says "invalid code" the first time.

Using the remote control:

Press the MENU key. Scroll up or down until you reach AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK. Press the "right arrow" key. Enter code 0711. Enter it again if it says invalid code.

Once in the AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK menu:

Scroll to BLOCK. Press the "right arrow" key. Scroll to BLOCKING OPTIONS. Press the "right arrow" key. Scroll to MASTER DISABLE. Press the "right arrow" key. This should unlock the parental control.

Chek in the back of the tv if there is a tiny button, probalbly that you have to use a ball pen to hit it, that says "RESET". press and hold it for 10 seconds an release it.

I have a Smart Series 32" Phillips-Magnovox TV I bought april '99. Around July 4 weekend 2008 it decided it just does not want to come on any more! Was working just fine before that...I can not find my manual. Any suggestions?

1.Press MENU to show the on-screen menu. 2. Press VOL+ or VOL- to highlight SET. 3. Press CH+ or CH- to highlight PARENTAL CONTROL. 4. Press VOL+ or VOL- to display the SECRET CODE screen. 5. Press VOL+ (on the remote) and the CH+ button on the front of the TV at the same time. 6. Press the Number buttons to enter a four-digit code. The code will appear on the screen as you enter it. The code "0000" is the default of the TV. If you have not set up a code previously,then "0000" is the code.You cannot use "0000" after you set your own code (unless you reset the code to "0000"). 7. Press MENU to save the code.
