The button to use the steam is stuck. I was ironing on Friday and as I was ironing it did not release back down. I have had this iron for about 8 years and it has never done this. Please help me know how I can fix it. Thanks Mary Winterrowd

Hi Mary, sounds like something jammed in the trigger mechanism or the microswitch button is stuck in the housing. Unplug the iron, let it cool. Gently pry up the blue cushion from the handle from the front towards the rear cord, you will see the trigger, the actuator tab and the microswitch button (nib) that should be sticking out, if it is flush with the housing it is jammed down. That switch is replaceable, but I don't know how savy you or your appliance servicer are at replacing it. Here is where I get my parts:

California Electric Service in Concord CA (it is the only Rowenta repair station in California) go to either of the following addresses:
their website is: http://www.californiaelectricservice.com/

Sand like particles come out when pressing the steam button leaving grit all over my clothes

I'm guessing that these particles are white or almost white. If so, it is just a build up of chalk from hard water. You will probably find that they just brush off the clothing with your hand. Just buy yourself a proprietary steam iron descaler and follow the instructions, all should be well

Will not send steam to the iron. Cleaned boiler cleaned reservoir. Help!! i love this iron.

Assuming the iron is hot???, move the variable steam control from min to max several times to clear possible blockage. Sounds like the steam valve is clogged.

DG 5030 steam generator-first time used and after...spits water

Common problem if you have the temperature or steam setting set too low (not enough heat/steam to vaporize water droplets or the unit is not up to full temp. I would have a clean towel alongside the iron to give a burst of steam prior to your first press...

No steam, button jammed

Hi,

I posted a similar fix under Rowenta DG-980 troubleshooting section. You may be able to pry off the soft rubber cover and access the switch assy and initiate a "surgical procedure".564568
Are you working on another iron similar to the DG-980 posting elsewhere on the FixYa website?

As for the Rowenta manufacturer, you can "Google" the Rowenta website at http://www.google.com typing in Rowenta and looking specifically for the Rowenta home website to get manuals, PDF reader and other good stuff. Please advise if your problem is fixed. I'm in SoCal and been to the UK only once.
